My experience with Dr. Yen was extraordinarily negative. Initially, he's quite friendly. Challenge him, however, and watch out. I found him personally offensive - arrogant, labile, vituperative, and extraordinarily triggered by being challenged or questioned - and, in my opinion, professionally lacking - he frequently changed his story, other oncologists flatly contradicted some of the things that he told us, and I think that he failed to pay adequate attention at crucial points in therapy. One has to be very careful in what one says in these reviews, and based on my experience with this doctor, I'm scared to say more. I have a very strong opinion in this matter, and complaints have been lodged. I would never allow another family member to consult with this doctor.

Dr. Yen is a terrible doctor. He is rude and cold hearted. My brother is one of the top doctors in the state and based of his comments he was not sure how he was even licensed. DO NOT GO TO HIM.

He took the time to answer all of my questions and was genuinely concerned. He explained all of my options.

I can't imagine why this doctor chose oncology as his field. I met with him with breast cancer and left his office feeling like I'd been punched in the gut. I asked my surgeon for a different referral, as I knew I could never be in a room again with this cold uncaring doctor. Thank God there are other, kind and companionate, doctors in Santa Cruz!

This "doctor" should not be licensed....very rude and refuses to listen to his patient's concerns - his motto must be "get the patient in and out as fast as possible". Financial reasons???

I am so thankful and I hope I do not have to see this Doctor again. He is probably smart, but just book smarts. A doctor must be so much more than book smart..perhaps he will improve with age, its a shame, I wish someone would tell him what a lot of his patients think of him..he needs good dose of humble pie.
