This doctor takes his time with you, explains things in detail, and you makes sure understand what the next steps are. He always walks me to the desk to check out. I will stay with him as long as he is practicing.

Seems nice, but is clinically inept. You will just end up wasting your time and money there.

Many people in the Diagnostic stage of Multiple Sclerosis have not been able to be diagnosed quickly. I had gone to the emergency room twice with no help, thinking I must be dying. I went to another Neurologist with no help. I went to Dr. Hammond and he was able to diagnose me within a few weeks. At this time I went from my arm being numb with pain, to half my body, and then pain in my neck that would made me writhe in pain on the floor, ultimately to not being able to get out of bed to make me a sandwich for lunch. I was scared and he was able to get the results quickly. He is very kind and does not rush you in his visit. He has been my neurologist for (I think) 5 years. The only problem is he is beginning to have a lot of clientele. It is hard to get an appointment quickly. My MS is getting more complicated and I need more knowledge for symptom relief. But give him credit, he is a sleep apnea specialist, not MS. If you are looking for a diagnoses he is the one to see.

I felt very comfortable sharing concerns. He listened well and answered any and all questions I had. It can take a bit to learn about lab results, but his staff has been wonderful and have always been willing to get answers to my questions. I have never felt rushed, even though he is so busy. Good doctor.

Young and fairly new in practice (3 or so yrs). Made rookie mistakes: not getting pt consent prior to bringing a shadow into exam, not reviewing test/scan results prior to appt. (was informed by MA of surgical referral, over the phone, AFTER appt.). Did not educate pt about nature of disease process (what to expect, known causes, etc.). Gave prescriptions/samples, but did not delineate on possible side effects nor explain length of time needed to take meds. Can be difficult to get an appt. not 2-3 months out unless you're considered "emergent" by the MA when scheduling. Overall, while I feel Dr. Hammond is trained in the field of Neuro/Sleep Medicine, I have not been given the impression, over several appts., that he truly cares about how my life is affected by disease and the meds he prescribed. An atypical physician IMHO: shallow, conceited and fickle: sometimes seemed charming, others bored. I am frustrated that I do not understand my health any better after having been *treated*.

Thoughtful, thorough and confident diagnosis. No unnecessary tests. Listened well. I highly recommend him.
