I had been seeing Dr Shaban yearly for my prostate. Years before my primary care Dr. felt something and that set off visits to various doctors. So to keep a check on my prostate I had yearly visits to Dr. S. In the beginning Dr Shabin was thorough, checking PSA and doing an exam. After he moved to the current mega location, his care changed, it was short not lasting more than five minutes only checking PSA and never doing a physical exam. On a recent visit I asked him why he wasn't doing a digital exam, which he then did. The next year, since my PSA had been steady at around 1.5 he informed me that he didn't need to see me anymore, again no digital exam. Since I was becoming more dissatisfied with his exams, I gladly didn't go back.

Only Four months later, during an annual physical, I related this to my doctor. He did an exam and felt something. As a result, he recommended a Urologist for me to see and with further tests discovered I had prostate cancer. Thankfully it had not spread outside the prostate. I recently finished treatment and hopefully remain cancer free.

If I would have listened to Dr. Shabin my cancer may had spread before being discovered. There are much better choices of Urologists than Dr. Shabin.

Dr. Shaban has the worst delivery and bedside manners I have ever encountered. The staff and facility is great but this Doctor is extremely rude and unprofessional. I was reffered to his practice by my primary Doctor because of some major concerns that her and I had. Dr. Shaban came in the room with only some results from a urinalysis and information that I had filled out on the forms. He walked into the room and immediately started telling me his diagnosis without any testing being done. Pretty much told me I was middle aged and needed to lose 80 pounds and sent me out the door. First of all I'm not that heavy at all and only 43. He never asked me proper questions nor talked to me much about what was going on with me. I was in and out so fast that I was speechless. He insulted me the entire time I was with him and I'm not a person who gets offended easily. I will never go back to this Doctor and would never recommend him to anyone. I'm pleased to know that he treats some people well, according to some of his reviews on here, but I can't say the same.

. Often times, only half of the story is being shared. Remember, patients must adAfter reading the review about a "botched procedure", I wanted to leave a review. First of all, MEDICINE IS NOT AN EXACT SCIENCE and nothing in medicine is guaranteed. I would also like to know how a spouse knows anything about what happens in a surgical suite.

Dr. Shaban is a wonderful physician who is down to Earth and very too the point. If he's dealing with infertility, he is realistic and honest. Often times, couples can be helped but there are also couples he cannot help. Dr. Shaban also expects patients to be compliant and follow directions. If a patient has an issue which has been present for weeks, months or years, the issue will not be an easy fix. For some conditions, there is no magic wand or pill. There are many, MANY patients who have unrealistic expectations. Since Dr. Shaban is a realist and refuses to sugar coat advice, some patients are not a good fit.

I explain these things because my husband is a patient of Dr. Shaban. He received excellent care, not only by the doctor, but by his nurse and care team. Dr. Shaban took wonderful care of him and went out of his way to make sure he was properly taken care of post op.

Don't believe every angry reviewvocate for themselves.

He made mistakes with my husbands care and my husband is still trying to recover from a botched procedure. Shaban was cavalier in the operating room and used profanity. He is an AWFUL physician and NO ONE should ever go see him.

Dr. Shaban saved my life. I had been very ill for several years. After many doctors, hospitals and clinics my husband rushed me to Rex Hospital. I was severely ill. Dr. Shaban, a Urologist, was on duty. HE SAVED MY LIFE. I do not remember the next 5 days of my life, and it took another 7 days before my memory started to come back. My husband filled me on my lost days. I had a kidney stone which caused me to be severely sepsis. I was given 1 hour to live. THANK YOU DR. SHABAN!!! GOD BLESS YOU. He explained everything that was going on to my husband. Very thorough and very professional.

I've been seeing Dr. Shaban for about 8 years. He is very down to earth and tells you straight up. I can see how overly sensitive people might not like that. He is the best doctor I have dealt with, period. I like his approach, demeanor, and professionalism. His nurse is awesome too. The practice is extremely busy and delays seem to be part of the program. Plan on an extra 30 mins. They're worth it.

His bedside manner is terrible. He was very insulting, made inappropriate comments, and not culturally competent. Will not visit him again or refer others to him.

Very knowlegable and friendly. He will spend time with you. Rated one of the top two doctors in Raleigh by his peers (the other is Dr. Jalkut).

Bedside manner is terrible. While he is very knowledge in the area, his arrogance does nothing to help my infertility issues. There are much better doctors out there. I will never work with Shaban nor refer him to anyone.
