Funny you should require politeness in comments. Helm does not care to hear any questions from patients, tone is ascerbic, just a horror to deal with. She may know her stuff, but who cares when she (and one of her staff), are so arrogant, unsympathetic, condescending, etc. She is apparently of the 'patients are to be seen and not heard' school of healing. Won't be requesting her skills again after only 1 visit.

Dr. Helm took the time to address all my concerns and questions. I went in for a particular issue and she ran tests and provided me with a few different approaches to help me out with my problem. I think she is a very caring Doctor.

I will never go back to this physician. This was my second visit, as I assumed (giving her the benefit of the doubt)that the first visit, which went similarly, was just a fluke. She didn't knock when she came into the room. After barging in, she began the office visit by being so disrespectful and berating and belittling me for a treatment decision made 6 months prior, that she had agreed to. When I requested that she do a routine test, she rolled her eyes and told me that she would do another test instead, and proceeded to talk down to me. She made a diagnosis, and when I asked her to explain what it was based on, she mentioned a single test, which has not been a reliable indicator of my blood levels. Not only will I never see this physician again, I will tell my primary care doctor to be cautious about referring others to her practice. I have never met such an unprofessional medical practitioner in my life.

I went in to see Dr. Helm for a previously diagnosed condition (my previous endo had left the practice). She asked that I stopped taking my medication for 30 days in order to get another baseline reading. When these tests came back the same as my last baseline (borderline normal) she told me to stay off the medication, that I was fine, and that my symptoms are psychological. She also sent me for more tests. When these tests came back very abnormal (much worse than ever before), she had a nurse call me to tell me to resume my medication at the previous dose, and to schedule a follow up in FOUR MONTHS. I called my PCP the next day to get a referral to another endo for a second opinion... which I got, along with the sense that I was being a bother. Harbor Medical in general has really gone to pot. I'm jumping ship.
