Dr. Donat is a saint, he's lifted 7 years of knee buckling migraines for me. After dozens of referrals, a maze of tests. He had my number the FIRST vi sit. after a med change, and adding life benefical treatment, I've been headache free since. Dr.Donat is the best. Cleve

I read all the negative comments, & was frnakly ready to try another neurologist before going to see him. But, my GP convinced to to go ahead, since I had waited 4 months already. Maybe due to the negative comments, but he was very respectful, friendly & listened to my situation quite carefully. He asked quite a few questions & then did an exam with my reflexes and responses to stimuli. He said right away, my tremor wasn't caused by Parkinson's which I was worried about. Then told me I had an "essential tremor" which was not serious & did not warrant medication. Perhaps in 10 years it might. I was quite relieved. I will see my GP soon & she will I assume should verify this is correct. It was quite a relief, so I probably won't be going back. I don't know how he would have treated me if it was serious. I do feel for those who are in a different situation.

I had waited 7 months to see this doctor,i handed him a list of symtoms that i have been having on and off for almost 2 yrs. He seperated each symptom into seperate columns as i sat across from him waiting for him to ask questions or something. He simply looked up at me, stated i think you have this , this and this (without any explanation as to what i can do to get better). Wrote a prescription for medication and said "this should help you out" I am not a fan of taking meds but at this point the amount of pain im in daily i will do what i have to to keep going. I have to work to support my family and i am not about to lay down and let this beat me, Im only 35. Sure , the meds are helping with one issue, BUT i am still in chronic pain everyday and i dont know what to do. At this point, i feel that if a neuro isnt going to help me, i am staying away from doctors all together and i will get through this on my own :( VERY FRUSTRATED!!!!

I left feeling worse then when I went. He did not seem to know more then what I had read on the net. He told me a number of times he is planning to retire soon while I discribed the pain I was in.I have moved to a new doc in Vancouver. His clerk is a nice and helpful person but if you are dealing with long term neuro care I would move on out.

I was impressed with Dr. Donat and did what he told me to - acupuncture, sleep clinic, medicines etc. He is very knowledgeable - I had a series of nerve blocks by this Dr. and he was very caring and understanding with me. Cannot understand the negativity posted. He certainly treated me with respect, dignity and understanding.

I am a relative of a former patient of this doctor and from what I have seen Dr Donat only seems to be interested in prescribing medication after medication all of which had little or no effect. Dr Donat appears to be less interested in dealing with the root cause of the problem, rather he seems to prefer to dish out drugs which in my opinion merely "mask" the symptoms and dont deal with the underlying cause. Not that approachable and has a terrible bedside manner.

It has taken me 3 hours to calm down from his visit. He delivered life-altering, permanent news to me and told me my reaction was "completely inappropriate"... my eyes had tears, my voice cracked when asking him to explain the physiology of what, literally, is going on in my brain. He explained simplistically and when I probed further for more details, I was told he would talk to me when I was not so out of control. (HUH??? Tears are now "out of control"?) He showed no compassion as he stated that my diagnosis was textbook and he does it often...( so, obviously, I was not entitled to any emotional physiological response). Apparently, he has issues with emotions and assumes that a person can't be emotional AND ask scientific questions. I wish I had read this site before going...

Dr Donat put me medication after medication and things just got worse, when I asked his advidce to come off the meds that weren't helping he sulked and said he couldn't help me. What kind of doctor is this? Shouldn't doctors be helping people??? Not storming out of their offices when they don't get their own way.

Dr Donat was extremely kind and helpful during my visits. I am a young woman and he seemed legitally concerned as to why I was in his office. he has worked with me through 3 different treatments, and not once has he talked down to me, or been rude or aggressive.
