Excellent doctor. She makes me feel more as family then just a patient. She reassures me everything is going to be alright. Takes time to answer question makes you feel like a priority not just another patient. My daughter was very excited we were having a boy. Told the doctor and Doctor shorter gave her a hug. Such a difference from previous doctors. Thank you for treating us like family.

Did not listen to me during my post surgery appointment.
Treated my pain like an overreaction.
Told me I was lying.
Lied to my family member.
Told me she doesn't have "ANYMORE TIME TO WASTE ON THIS" regarding my concerns.
Just unacceptable!!!!

If you read all of Dr. Shorter's positive reviews, you will see one thing in common: they are all from women who have given birth with Dr. Shorter. If you have no interest in having children, she is one of those inaccessible, distant obgyns. I have never waited less than a hour past my appointment time to see her, while pregnant women walk in and out in no time flat.

Dr. Shorter is AMAZING. !!!!!! She treats her patients as if we are family!!! I have never been happy to go for my yearly as I am to go to her office !!! The staff are so nice an friendly . Thank you so much Dr. Shorter for being so dedicated !!! Caused 3rd degree lacerations and completely deformed me (vaginal-rectal fistula). When I asked to have it corrected, she refused to take care of it unless I paid her to fix the damage that SHE (not me) did. By then it was too late since my insurance ran out. I had to live deformed for over 5 years until another doctor could fix the damage that she did with plastic surgery.

The staff were so friendly even before I arrived at my appointment. I was having trouble finding the place, since it was my first time. Called the office and the receiptionst was so kind and friendly. She was very patient in directing me where to find the place, and cooperative. I must say that Dr Shorter was so friendly. The first time seeing her, for a second opionion, and she makes you feel like you have known her for years. Wonderful personality, very pretty and enjoys her job. I have never been to a Doctor/obygn and felt so comfortable. She is quite knowledgeable and explains to me the various options to my surgery. I will recommend Dr Lia Shorter to anyone. I gave birth to my second child with Dr. Shorter. Through out my appointments, I always looked forward being seen by Dr. Shorter. She made me feel so comfortable and most important for me is trust, which I completly trust her. She always took her time through the visits and gave me the opportunity for any questions or concerns I might have had. At the hospital, she really encouraged and was very friendly and sensitive. I will def. return to her for my next pregnancy.

I absolutely love Dr. Shorter! I am shocked by any review of her as unfriendly or having a negative attitude. I am on my first pregnancy and Dr. Shorter is just so fab, I actually enjoy and look forward to my visits! Could ask her anything. I think her personality may be more suited to a women from teenager to mid-40s. If you are looking for someone to take your teenage daughter to the first time-she'd be your best pick in Virginia. Also, the staff at the FREDERICKSBURG office (not Stafford) is divine. I haven't had good luck with the folks in Stafford (especially the blood tech who is probably the worst blood tech in the world-has bruised my entire arm EVERY time she draws blood-she just seems angry all the time) at the Stafford location and avoid it at all costs, but the women at the Fred. office completely make up for it. If you HATE getting your blood drawn (as I do) go to the tech in Fred. I think her name is Tammy. She's a miracle worker.

My daughter is 14 years old and suffers form pcos, she was scared to death about visiting a gyn but Dr Shorter was wonderful. She made my daughter ver comfortable and answered every question we had. She also resolved several of they symtoms my daughter was having that the pcp and endocrinolgist could not. Glad we went to her

My only time spent with Dr. Shorter was on the phone while I was in the hospital recovering from a LAVH. It was after hours and she was the Dr. on call. I was to check out but was concerned about feeling short of breath. I was in pain and scared about going home the way I was feeling. She was not at all sympathetic she was rude and had me in tears by the time I got off the phone with her. My doctor at this practice is Dr. Thott and he has been great. The nurses and staff I have worked with have been wonderful as well. I just hope I do not have to deal with Dr. Shorter again.
