This office is close Dr. Metter lost his license in 2008 and served time in Federal Prison, he was also sued in Civil Court and found guilty on all charges and anyone that comes in contact with him should not believe a word he says and go to a Medical Doctor as he is not a medical dr., not a licensed Psychologist and definitely not a healer

As you enter the office you are not greeted, once you step out of the waiting room door it was very chaotic, his licenses and certificates from various courses covered a whole wall. He used his degree from Temple and University of PA as a guise to show that he knew what he was doing. He showed absolutely no boundaries and used Carbon Dioxide on both my wife and I and assured us that his assistant would bill the insurance so that we would be fully billed, we never were and we spent thousands. At first he was very cordial, etc, after two weeks of therapy, then my spouse went and we brought our children in and that is when his whole demeanor changed. It almost broke up our marriage and with 6 children between the two of us we were financially stretched paying his full fee! He is a very good actor and we both feel that he missed his calling in life for one. We would never recommend him to any one for fear that he would break up a family.

I saw this doctor for two years. I was newly diagnosed, by an experienced psychiatrist, with an uncommon disorder and my inpatient psychologist referred me to him. I found him perceptive, careful about me, about boundaries, extremely caring, honest, and very interested in helping me regain my functioning. He saw me on a sliding scale of payments and at the end of two years I was able to go back to school, graduate and get a job as a software engineer in Silicon Valley. Julian was beginning to investigate alternative therapies because he was willing to take patients with problems that other therapists were unwilling to deal with, and for whom the "accepted" therapies just didn't work. And those for whom medications were not helpful. I do not believe he EVER intentionally did anything unethical. And to the person who implies that anyone supporting Dr. Metter is untruthful or never treated by him, bull. He saved my life.

Here are the facts: Julian B. Metter, Ph.D. surrendered his license to the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology.  On or about June 25, 2009, Metter pleaded guilty to one felony count of Medicare billing fraud, having billed for services reported as delivered at a time when he was not actually in the area where the services were reported as delivered.  Additionally, Metter displayed “gross incompetence, negligence or misconduct,” committed “immoral or unprofessional conduct,” engaged in improper dual relationships with clients. (Consent Agreement and Order, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania vs. Julian B. Metter, Ph.D., Docket No. 1404-63-09, File No. 06-63-08200, 08-63-01170 and 08-63-10481, July 29, 2009.)

I only went to his office once, and he is a total fraud. He billed me $300 for a session, which was him trying to sell me into some auditory therapy. What is dangerous is that he used the credentials of his "PHD" to tell me I had a problem that simply did not exist. The person saying how wonderful he is is most likely a close friend and crony. The fact that he/she tried to attack another's character for bringing forward charges that led to Dr. Metter's CONVICTION is proof you have to be careful who you turn for help. Never go to Dr. Metter for anything (after his prison sentence.) Don't even let him flip your burgers.

He has lost his licence in a Federal fraud case in which he plead guilty. He uses dangerous methods in a haphazard manner. When he gets out of prison, he is likely to resurface...so don't get sucked in by his promise to achieve great things with his untested methods.

The above comments are by a former employee who is engaged in a personal smear campaign of the good Dr. I know from personal experience that he has always done nothing but good for his patients. The woman making these accusations (who I also know) has been spending years trying to soak every dime from him and taking advantage of his good nature and trust in people. She is a very disturbed individual. Dr. Metter goes to the ends of the earth seeking holistic and alternative treatments for his patients. He genuinely cares for every patient he sees and I have personally witnessed him spending countless hours and money from his own pocket to help many desperate people who were in dire need of treatment after modern medicine failed. He is a fantastic healer and a wonderful human being and I feel privileged to have been treated by him.

This Doctor is harmful; there is no other way to put it. I went to see this Doctor at a very vulnerable period of my life and came out of his therapy worse than I had been when I first walked through the door. It has been years and I am still trying to recover from what went on at our therapy sessions. I have a whole new set of issues due to this Doctor’s “alternative” healing techniques. He is unethical and should not be allowed to practice. For the love of all that is good, avoid this Doctor. There really should be a support group for his former patients; I know I’m not the only one that has been traumatized.
