Reviews are correct - genuinely nice guy who makes a big effort to be contactable around the clock but inclined to cut or medicate when more holistic approaches could be an option. Recommend a 2nd opinion if feeling uncertain before making a big decision. Staff are nurses so well placed to assist with medical Qs over the phone.

This man ruined my entire life. He removed a benign 6x6 cm cyst off my right ovary in 2019 and my health deteriorated after that surgery. I should have posted this review a long time ago but I have been suffering ever since the surgery desperately trying to get relief and suffer PTSD from seeing this doctor. Later that year I went back to him in debilitating pains, antibiotics were tried, thrush medications, scans. One day I was in so much pain that I rung his pager (which I was advised to do at the time) it was either that or the hospital which I ended up going to anyway. I was called the same day by his receptionist telling me that Barabash had decided to ‘relinquish his care’ of me. This was quite sudden and up until that point he had seemly been concerned and trying to help me. It was a shock to our whole family. I truly believe something went wrong with my surgery and he knows it and that’s why he did it. We can’t think of any other logical explanation for what he did. I still suffer from pelvic pain when prior to surgery I never had these problems. I also have severe nerve damage/issues and medical trauma from seeing Ian Barabash. Please. Do not be swayed by his reviews, he does come across as a caring doctor in the beginning but like I said, very out of the blue behaviour following surgery and he has most definitely ruined my entire life.

Get a second option when recommended surgery for low grade exchanges, it’s excessive

Amazing service. He’s quirky, funny and definitely knowledgeable. Most importantly, so so caring. His staff are brilliant and overall, I had an awesome experience while he looked after me and my 3 babies :)

Have had 3 babies safely delivered and GYn treatment by Ian..I find him up to date and expert in his field. Bonus is he is a lovely man and punctual due to his very well run practice.

I would agree with the articulate person below - an excellent doctor who is very caring.

He's also kind, charismatic, non-judgemental and put simply, a pleasure to deal with.

Someone below commented on his knowledge of pharmaceuticals and I have had another expert over turn one of his prescriptions but that wasn't enough to put me off him. Just always be prepared for a 2nd opinion where you're not sure.

I have NO IDEA how OBGYNs do it but he somehow manages to be punctual to every appointment ad return calls swiftly.

He is a genuinely nice man but he is not really up-to-date in the newer surgical techniques. He asked me why I wanted to have minimally invasive surgery as opposed to a large cut on my abdomen! The reality was that he wasn't trained in it. Also, he wanted to remove bits that were not diseased. It's a shame as he is a genuinely nice person.

I would highly recommend Ian. He is a gentle, knowledgable and personable doctor. I always felt safe in his hands. The delivery of my first child was especially complicated, but Ian was excellent throughout the whole experience. He even went to great lengths to support my support team ie sisters and kept them well informed the entire time. My husband and I had no hesitation whatsoever to go back to Ian for our second child.
