Dr Canning is truly one of a kind. I am extremely protective of my parents and when he did my Dad’s gallbladder surgery, I knew my Dad was in good hands. He even called the next day to check on him. He was so kind and completely down to earth. I am so sad about his passing; we have lost an incredible doctor, and more importantly, a beautiful soul. Rest In Peace Dr Canning. My sincere condolences go out to his family and friends. I wish I could have helped in some way.

I was never a patient of Dr . Michael Canning; I was a resource RN in pre-op at SMH and later an RN in the ED at BH. As an RN he was the most amazing doctor and would always joke with him that he was going to take out my gallbladder, ( one day). He was someone who would work with his patients on an emotional level and many times in spite of their finances. Honestly even though he was a doctor and a surgeon, which I respect, not every doctor was like Michael. I see him more as a friend, he would say “hello” and ask me “how are you” unlike doctors. We always had a great interaction; he was so knowledgeable about College football, that half the time I was embarrassed, but then he would carry on the conversation with the guys of the unit who admired his total down to earth-ness. This man breathed ‘life’ and he gave so many life and betterment. I know that we have lost an intrepid servant of mankind today, and I have lost a friend. He was a brother to us nurses and a defender of his patients. I see the time I spent in his presence as super special. He was not about ‘money’, you could not find a gentler gent. God bless you Sir, you are one of a kind. To all those who knew you, you were privileged and honored, just like I. Prince has a song called ‘Sometimes in snows in April’, today April is in September. My heart goes out to you and I am so sorry you were in such pain. You helped so many and it seems there was no one who could help you. For that I am saddened and my heart is broken. Rest in peace you dear man. You will be missed by all.

Awesome staff!!! Super friendly and make you feel extremely comfortable.
Dr. Canning is a great doctor, very confident in what he is doing. Before my surgery he was making jokes & made me feel at ease. I was up & out of bed an hour after recovery & had very little discomfort. Even the hospital staff gave me great feed back about him.
