Im updating my review. While the doc is the best you can find, you’ll find that her assistant, Douglas, is negligent in his care.
If this was someone else, I’d give a ONE STAR , but I cannot drop her stars because she truly is kind, thoughtful, and gives her all to her patients, but I will say it will be hard to receive care due to Douglas’ behavior.
To give you an idea: he doesn’t pick up the phone and it will take multiple messages to get him to return your call, if he ever does. He also does not pass along messages (even when the doctor has requested he do so). He ignores messages from the patient and the pharmacy about prescriptions that require the doctor’s attention and he ignores messages requesting appointments. Finally, the doctor suggested I email him. He is better at returning emails than calls, but he ignores pertinent questions which require multiple emails over a week’s time. This last time, the doctor suggested I take two pain pills. I immediately wrote that I was out. Anyway, it took 6 days to get him to finally write at 5 pm on Friday, that I needed an appointment and the first available was on Wednesday. But he could get me in for an infusion on Tuesday and a pain shot. I requested an appointment that would be right before my CT scan. He gave me a good time, but when I came in for the infusion he made me wait 30 minutes, stating there wasn’t a chair available. However, when I got back to the infusion room there were 7 chairs open, and the nurses said they were available at 1145 when my appointment was scheduled. the nurses had nothing to do, so that one was organizing the cart and said “I need to do this or I’ll fall asleep”.
I told the doctor about this. She told me that while her patients haven’t said he’s rude, several patients shared with her that Douglas had trouble answering and returning calls for care. She also shared that she didn’t understand why he told her wrong information about my appointment with my surgeon, and she didn’t understand why Douglas didn’t make an appointment for me to get a prescription for my refill. She went on to say that she is only as good as her assistant and I should contact office management. I did.
Unfortunately, the office manager, clearly has a friendly relationship with Douglas, and basically explained how if I change my behavior I would receive better care: shorter emails, don’t ask for a different time than the first suggested time, that I need to understand the different roles of doctor and assistant. This is clearly not a way to keep a patient
This saddens me so much. For anyone who has been sick and in chronic pain, you know your health care provider is the key to your health. Dr Wynn-Jones is that provider. Unfortunately, her patients’ healthcare is being compromised by her incompetent assistant. Which is so unfair to her.
I do hope that once enough people say something, he will no longer hold a position at her office, and I would love to be under her loving care, again.
