We were given incorrect medical information about our child, which resulted in Dr. Rittemyer performing a completely unnecessary surgery on our child. Parents, do not take your child to see him!!! Make the drive to find a doctor who will actually care for and accurately treat your child!!

RUDE and hateful Yelled at me in front of my hospitalized child when I askedfor further testing. I cannot believe a doctor would not listen to a parents concern and have a full blown temper tantrum in front of a sick hospitalized child. Driving out of city to find another ped gastro.

My child was in to see doctor Rittmeyer tuesday morning. She kept throwing up and wouldnt keep anything down. He was goin on vaction the next day and did nothing for her. The next day we were in the hospital. He came up to the hospital with a sorry attitude and yet again did nothing for my child. He said " I had to drive all the way up here from charleston to see this kid". I would not recommend him to anyone. he did not care about my child. He was to worried about his vaction. My daughter is still throwing up and he is still on vaction three weeks later. noone able to get ahold of him. I am in the process of trying to find a new doctor.

My son was seeing Dr. Rittmeyer for IBD. Dr. Rittmeyer prescribed predisone 40 mg every day to my son for at least 6 months. Most of the time he didn't see the doctor, but his nurse practitioner. I now fear that my son will have some long term effects from the predisone because the doctor didn't seem to care about my son.

My daughter has been seen by Dr. Rittmeyer now for two years. He is a very caring doctor with an excellent bedside manner. He is always concerned with my daughter's health and has always been a pleasure to see. His caring attitude is always very evident with how he speaks to us and explains her progress/problems/treatments. Thanks Dr. Rittmeyer! You are the greatest!

I am frustrated with Dr. Rittmeyer because he gave a tentative diagnosis on my daughter's condition and never bothered to explain what the condition was to me or the treatment options. I have found him to be harried and grumpy. Not at ALL what I expected after hearing other comments on him. However I have run into several people since seeing Dr. Rittmeyer who had a similar experience and went elsewhere. I am sure that he is very good at what he does, but his bedside manner could use drastic improvement.
