In 1997, when I developed “C. Difficile, ” I was rushed to the E.R. at St. Joseph’s Hospital (Sav’h, GA), Dr.
Costrini was assigned to me - I lost consciousness & was taken to the ICU for 2-WEEKS! My wife was overwhelmed (our 3 Children were very young then!) and ‘Dr.’ Costrini was repeatedly telling the hospital’s Chief Surgeon [he told me this Face-To-Face, when I had Re gained consciousness & was released from the ICU ] that I needed to have everything from my stomach down permanently removed!! - the Chief Surgeon kept putting him off until I was able to have a voice in my own health. I Thank Good for that Chief Surgeon..!!! My wife had a meeting with Costrini about my care (while I was still unconscious & in the ICU) and when she began asking him questions ~ he began cussing at my Wife and slammed a glass door while storming away from her - the RN’s near there heard the entire thing & could only say, “..that’s how he is!”! Thank Goodness this Evil Fool is no longer in Savannah…

I felt our Hospital From Hell Event needed to be exposed - my SAINTLY Wife of 37-Years didn’t want me to tell this, but hopefully it will spur others in dire medical straits to become more vocal & not allow anyone who’s hiding behind their M.D. to abuse their authority!

The doctor did not even examine me and I have multiple gastroenterological diseases/disorders. My abdomen was severely bloated and he would not listen to anything I said or read my diagnostic reports from other doctors. It was ridiculous. A total lack of patient care. This doctor has no ability to be called a doctor. Please do not go to him!

Yes his bedside manner is something to be desired. After being a patient of this doctor for several years I realize that although he was Stern and a bit rude he really knew his stuff and for the first time I found relief. I found that when I was unable to pay he was generous and understanding, that is something I have never seen at any doctor's office. He always told me that my health comes before money and never let that get in the way if I need to see him.
He and his staff have been great to me.

My father (who is90 years old) saw Dr Costrini in February 2014 for bile duct blockage. A temporary stent was placed and we were released the next day. In 6 weeks it was blocked again. Costrini said it couldn't be his stent. Well it was. Took the stent out and replaced with another one in April 2014. Again in 6 weeks it was also blocked. In May it was blocked again and he replaced with a permanent stent. All was good until October 2014 when it was blocked again. He took out the stent and sent us home. My father was still very sick and weak and should never have been released from hospital. 2 days after returning home he was back in our local hospital and had to have a duodenum jejunum ileum surgery (by pass). His bile duct was again blocked in November 2014 and another stent was placed. In May 2015 his bile duct again was blocked as constri Was no longer in SAV (thank God for that) and we saw another dr who immediately saw that he needed to go to a larger hospital for treatment. We went to piedmont in Atlanta where his bile duct was cleaned of numerous stones which was what was blocking the bile duct. Costrini should have told us he couldn't do what needed to be done one of the prior times we saw him then my father would not have had to suffer all these procedure for a year and a half. Thank God we got a dr who immediately knew we needed to go to another hospital.

This so called doctor if you can call him is that - told me I was black and fat. He acted like I had a contagious disease and would not touch me. His missed my diagnosis and I ran from him as fast as I could fly. If he hates me because I am a black and overweight, well I hate Italians.

My visit was one of the most unpleasant MD visits ever. Unhelpful, arrogant, dismissive, Dr. Costrini was a waste of time.

Dr. Costrini is very knowledgeable and helpful, unlike the numerous specialists I have seen in my small town over the past several years due to chronic cough that developed in '09. After the ENTs, pulmonary doc, and gastro doc I saw in my town were dismissive - several even telling me the cough was in my head, I lost hope I'd get diagnosed. I had a baby in January; while pregnant I got acid reflux that did not end after delivery. I asked for referral to a dr. in Savannah. Dr. Costrini is the FIRST specialist to look for reflux even though it is known that chronic cough can be caused by GERD or silent reflux. Even though my PCP thought I had silent reflux, no one bothered to test me for it prior to Costrini. He performed an upper GI endoscopy and placed a Bravo capsule yesterday, and although I haven't had my follow up yet, he told me I have severe acid reflux. He seems very concerned. I will likely have surgery. He is very kind and even held my hand while I was anesthetized yesterday.

Dr. Costrini has been my doctor for 3 years. Though quite stern, he did actually seem concerned about my needs. I would recommend him to anyone. The staff was helpful and I did not wait long to see him. He was very kind to me and I appreciate that he let me know that I had unrealistic anxiety about the whole c-scope process. The surgery center was punctual, thorough and to the point.I was so relieved to get the whole process over with.
