Ive had such a bad experience with this doctor. I brought in my almost 3 month old in because he had a low grade fever. When we got to the doctor's office they took his temp and it was 103. I explained to them that it was that high because he was screaming in the car and that I was taking it rectally all day and it was not that high only 99 degress. The doctor came in and she wanted to take his blood and catheterize him because his temp was so high. I explained to her again that it was that high because of the car ride but she did not listen to me. I asked her to take his temp again before we do anything invasive. She did and it did go down 0.5 degrees. We went ahead and took his blood and it came back normal. Dr Carreon still wanted to catheterize him and I didn't understand why since he temp was decreasing and his blood was normal. She said that he could still has a virus or bacterial infection and his blood (white blood cells) be normal. That is so rare and even unheard. I know that if there is an infection, your body responds by sending white blood cells and it shows up on blood. I asked her if we could do something less invasive like bagging him for his urine. She said no because it was the end of the shift and it could get contaminated. She did not give me any options. Instead she told me I am lucky she did not do a spinal tap on him. A few minutes later nurses came in with cath supplies. I told them no, you are not listening to me and if I could send the doctor in again. She came in, rolling her eyes at me. I was so sad with all of this, I was seriously going to leave their practice. A few hours later, my sons temp was again low grade and the next day, had not fever at all. When I asked another doctor in their practice what would they have done, the disagreed with what Dr. Carreon did and said" if the blood work was fine why did she still want to catheterize him?" I'm glad I went with common sense.

The docs at the Palos office are always late, I've often waited hours to be seen with an appt. That said, they are very helpful when you DO get in to see them. It's a bit annoying that they don't take sick appts for the next day..only for the day of the call.

Dr. Carreon is a great doctor. She is caring and empathetic, but not overbearing at all. When I make parenting decisions she does not try to convince me to do what she would do, which means that when she does recommend something I am 100% willing to trust her. She knows her stuff about breastfeeding and infant nutrition (all too rare these days), and is really good at interacting with my child as well. The staff at this office are also really nice and helpful.
