This is a review about his office, not Dr. Irr in particular...

Be careful how you speak to their PA Chantal or she will refuse to help you over the phone as she is evidently highly sensitive. She wasn't really hearing what I was saying on the phone and took a huge offense from the very start, thinking I was annoyed with her, WHEN I WASN'T.

When you sign up for an appointment on their site, you give them your contact info, addy and everything. First she calls me mid morning, but after a few sentences, the line was abruptly cut off, AND SHE DOESN'T CALL BACK. I try to call back but can only leave a message. Four hours later or so she calls again.

"Oh hi, I was wondering what was up when you didn't call back earlier," I say in a calm voice.

She is clearly offended that I even mention this because she says in a slightly annoyed voice, "Yes, I'm the only one here today."

She asks for my contact info and I start to give her my full name and number, then I realize they should already have it cause I filled out the form online. When I say this, she replies with an annoyed voice, "Only the scheduling person gets that. And I'm the only PA [I think this is what she called herself] here today."

I say, "I will certainly provide it, but it seems like we're doubling efforts ---" She INTERRUPTS me to say, "You're obviously annoyed and YOU DON'T WANT TO TALK TO ME and YOU'RE NOT GONNA TALK TO ME THAT WAY, so I'm going to give you to the front desk." Say what? Talk about being misunderstood by someone willing to take immediate offence, WOWSERS.

Before I can say another word, she puts me on hold. What SHE DIDN'T HEAR cause she was obviously annoyed about something else that day --- being the only one there, perhaps? --- was that I started the sentence with the fact that I was going to give her the info, and was merely leading up to making a comment that they're making more work for her when she is shorthanded, which I know can be stressful.

But no, she gets all bent out of shape and that's that. I left a VM with the office manager to discuss the matter but she never bothered to call.

I had already made an appointment with a different neurologist before the receptionist from Neurology Consultants of Houston called to tell me, "I'm sorry, Dr. Irr is not able to take your case." No explanation given, but clearly, Chantal felt I hurt her feelings, the office manager didn't want to bother.... too childish and unprofessional in my opinion.

So seriously, watch out if you don't behave the way they think you should when someone at THEIR office is clearly having a bad day. I'm still shaking my head at how weird this experience was...
