I have been seeing Dr. Guthrie for 10+ years, he delivered my first child by c-section and was amazing both during delivery and after. He is also my full time gynaecologist I have been under watch for cervical cancer for the last 15 years the last 10ish have been with him. He has taken numerous biopsies and performed a leep procedure on me and all have gone very well. He is very skilled in his field.

I don't question Dr. Guthrie's skills and would have no issue with him doing another surgery on me. However, I did tell him I felt like whatever growth I had was going to burst or had a heart beat. He responded, "no". When it did rupture and I went to see him after waiting all weekend in pain, he still didn't seem to believe me. He said I would still have to wait a month for the surgery in Edmonton and things were fine. When they opened me up in Edmonton, sure enough it had ruptured and endometriosis had grown all over. I know it's hard to know when or when not to make a judgement call with this sort of thing, but considering they were worried I had ovarian cancer, if it had been, i would be dead right now b/c the cancer would have spread everywhere. I also really hope the medical establishment as a whole will quit castrating women and taking their ovaries when they don't need to. It is life destroying as far as sexual function and depression goes.

This doctor is so crude when I was only 5 months along my water broke he told me to induce labour and to just start over no big deal. Little did he know I had 5 miscarriages and was very difficult to get pregnant. Bit didn't care to ask about my past history of pregnancy. Told me when he was leaving the room that he was use delivering unhealthy babies. I would not agree to induced laybour and was put on bed rest. Would not give me meds to insure that I didn't not get infection after water broke. I was doing fine baby was fine in till two weeks later I got Blader infection that caused me to go in earlier labour. While in labour he had a nurse come in to tell the doctor who was delivering my son that this was a dead pregnancy. Well my son was alive before I gave birth but during delivery he died. All could of be prevented if I was giving medication to prevent infection in first place. Worst experience in my whole life was that day I every meet this doctor. Who by the way made me come to his office everyday after altersound was done he would tell me to abortion my baby ever day.

Dr.Guthrie performed a partial hysterectomy on me. He even doubled it with another surgery (which takes a lot of coordination) and did an amazing job. Never been happier. Dr.Guthrie and his staff are amazing, so thoughtful and kind. Absolutely one of the best OBGYNs around!

He is a wonderful doctor, very kind and caring. I would highly reccomend him if you are looking for a specialist that will make you feel properly cared for.

I am a US citizen recently moved to Yellowknife. Dr Guthrie is an outstanding doctor. He will take out the time to explain every concern and genuinely cares about you as a patient. He will have solutions to handle all complications. You are in expert and caring hands if you have him as your doctor. I am lucky to have been referred to him.
