I'm a difficult patient, I will admit. But I have yet to come across a doctor who will spend as much time to explain things as Dr. Alper has. He is a top notch doctor and true researcher with a level of compassion and expertise that is unmatched by any other in New York that i've come across. What I like the most about him is that he is cautious with medications and uses the least amount possible for therapeutic results, combined with natural products. As other experts in the field have told me, I am "lucky" to have him as a doctor. They feel confident that I'm in good hands. And believe me, I've seen many doctors. No other doctor in NYC would spend over a half an hour on a Saturday to answer my questions.

Dr. Alper is both intuitive and knowledgeable. He has great insight and has used a unique combination of less medication and more natural products to help me feel better than I've felt in a long time. I would highly recommend him!

Dr. Alper is a consummate professional under whose care and guidance I've made tremendous progress. He is professional beyond reproach, and he engages patients in a way that speaks to the individual and specialized care he has given to me over an extended period of time. Dr. Alper's principal distinguishing characteristics as a physician include (a) his command of neurophysiology and psychopharmacology and (b) his compassionate doctoring. His understanding of the underlying biological substrates of neuropsychiatric illnesses, which is analogous to that of academic research neuroscientists, gives Ken a distinct clinical advantage among his peers that ensures every person he treats will soon be more well than they ever hoped that they would be after first coming to see him. Ken is the kind of guy that is both so good at what he does and so genuinely feels the responsibility to ensure that everyone that comes to see him starts getting well quickly, that there isn't another physician that you would rather have in your corner.

I told myself that I wouldn't do a review on Dr. Alper until a couple of more months into my treatment, but I just can't resist! He is just the best psychiatrist I have ever encountered. I have been searching for someone to help me with my depression/ocd/anxiety disorder without luck until Dr. Alper. It is week 4 of my treatment and I already feel so much better than I ever have with any other psychiatrist. I truly feel that I am one step closer to finding mental peace and happiness. He is so caring and truly listens to how you feel. No question is off limits. On my first appointment, he listened to me explain how I was feeling for almost 2 hours until he had his "ah ha" moment. I have never witness a doctor who is fully focused on their patient and not on their clock. He doesn't diagnose you with a textbook definition. He recognizes human beings are all so complex and may fit different psychiatric molds. He is absolutely amazing. Worth the wait! Thank you Dr. Alper!!!!

Dr.Alper helped to diagnose a complicated presentation of symtoms and saved my sanity. He listens with knowledge, beleif and thought. He is kind and there if u need him. There is ongoing follow and referrals if needed and works with other treating Doctors to help diagnose presented conditions. He is expremely experienced in ruling out what may be happening with complex symtoms. I am so greatful to Dr.Alper and feel blessed to have found him. He truly is one in a million.

**Please read my response to previous patient's review.** With as much objectivity as I can sum up, I'll confess that Dr. Alper saved my life. He sustains a level of "distance" which allows him to operate in the most professional and effective manner I've ever seen. He makes decisions most psychiatrists are afraid to make. He did not accept 10 years of other doctors' diagnoses and drug protocols. He had to see for himself exactly what was going on with me. He was right. 85% of my symptoms were side effects of the massive amounts of medications I was prescribed. Because of Dr. Alper, I have my life back. He won't accept my thanks, so this will have to suffice. ** Dr. Alper does not do psychotherapy. He does medication management after gathering information he needs. As patients, he does not pity us. He cares A LOT, he is very compassionate without being overtly emotional. Save the tears for your psychotherapist. This man is NOT swayed by drug companies. You simply cannot ask for more.
