My husband has been seeing Dr. Fownes for many years. Just found out today that he has retired .... no email or message to give us a heads-up. My husband needed an appointment today due to pain and when he called it was only then that he found out the Dr. had retired. This is NOT very professional in my view.

DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST!! Every tooth he filled ended up with a root canal! I spent a fortune on needless work that he deliberately created in order to make more money. I finally changed dentists and that was the best decision I made!

Dr. Fownes is a terrible dentist; he does invasive and unnecessary procedures on his patients, charging them a fortune and destroying their teeth. He's clearly in it for the money and does not care about his patients well-being or integrity. For the years that I was his patient, I always wondered if he actually knew what he was doing. I would not recommend this dentist, and in fact, I would tell all his current or future patients to run away from him, knowing the damage he has caused. He should be disbarred from the Ordres des dentistes and prohibited from practicing. I am certain he has had so many complaints and lawsuits against him.

Le pire dentiste à vie: il a détruit mes gencives et par conséquent l'apparence de ma bouche; il m'a chargé 20000$ et ma bouche est détruite. Je vis avec un grand complexe depuis 20 ans par sa faute. Il ne devrait plus pratiquer. L'Ordre des dentistes devrait intervenir pour lui interdire de pratiquer et faire d'autres victimes. C'est irréparable! C'est impardonnable. Retirez lui son droit de pratique le plus vite possible!!!!!!! Honte à cette profession de profiteurs incompétents!!!!!! Le pire à vie!!! Un gros zéro! Je le hais pour ce qu'il m'a détruite!

My husband & I are having Dr Fownes as dentiste, we moved to USA and he gave us our XRays to bring with us, came back to Canada and moved in Laval and we continue to go to him. Lovely dentist, very attentive,, very professional. If it does not hurt: don't touch it is what he tells me. Beautiful practice (new location) at Fairview.

Please stay away from this dentist, and warn everyone you know. Hi is performing unnecessary root canals on any teeth that have cavities. Teeth that could be fixed wit h simple fillings, his only option is root canals, following by crowns to "protect your teeth". He will fail, and never admit it, nor he will correct his mistakes, Including pushing "debris" and blocking canals, leaving broken files (pieces of equipment) inside your root, and never tell you about it, convincing you to have crowns which are absolutely not required. He is there to get your money, and absolutely does not care about your well being, The moment he suggests you any of the treatments, please leave, go somewhere else, seek second, third opinion. Don't stay with him for too long, like I did, and got quite few teeth destroyed.

I have been seeing Dr fownes for many years and could not be happier with his work. He has performed 2 root canals over the years without issue... when I read other reviews here I can not believe these people are rating the same Dt Fownes. He is a professional, prompt, caring dentist. As for those who suggest they can get the same service for 1/2 the price I beg to differ! I would give Dr Fownes six stars if they were available!
