If "nice guy" is your criteria for a competent psychiatrist, you are in trouble. If you have mild depression, he may not hurt you. But if you have a more serious psychiatric disorder, especially a psychotic disorder, run away as fast as you can, while you still can. Brian Eddy prescribed whatever our actively delusional son with schizophrenia asked him for, a toxic cocktail of medications (benzodiazepine - Xanax, barbiturate - Seconal, and amphetamine - Adderall), all for daytime use, that our psychotic son, who was noncompliant with his antipsychotic medication & fully delusional, could no longer safely manage. He demonized the family ("I was trying to build trust with my patient"), sharing our reports of our son's symptoms despite having a signed release to talk with us, thereby increasing our son's paranoia and destroying his trust for us. Our son was at grave risk, but Eddy refused to order hospitalization for assessment, which contributed directly to our sweet son's death due to an accidental overdose of amphetamines (ME's report), at the age of 31.

I've been seeing him for several years. Very insightful, knowledgeable and caring. He is a good listener and is willing to listen to alternative ideas. He has helped me immensely. Not sure if psychiatrists are like therapists in that you need to find the one you can connect with and that 'gets you'. Also find office staff personable and friendly,

Not good. My husband goes to him and continues to have problems. I agree with negative reviews. He acts like there is nothing wrong with someone who has meltdowns affecting their marriage; he just prescribes the meds and when I ask my husband what advice he offers, he can't give any. Agree! one missed appt. was $216. I went to go to appointment with husband(last 15 minutes) and he was already out the door having next client enter. This was right after a crisis!!

Worst Dr. I've ever seen. Incompetent and just throws drugs at you. Also, doesn't help R A P E victims and charges an astronomical amount of money for missed appointments. Is not punctual in the slightest and has no human compassion.

He is good at prescribing medications, but he is horrible at giving advice, as he doesn't give you any! He seems to think there is nothing wrong with being psychotic/crazy and never points out or educates you on the negative attributes of psychosis. He NEVER shares his opinions or makes suggestions unless you directly ask him to, which is obviously not helpful to the patient whom is PAYING him to do so. For someone who has a doctorate degree, I would expect more elaborate, cerebral answers to my questions, instead of short worded responses. During the sessions I find him to be a bit weird and conspicuously uninvolved.
