Dr. Koren needs to rethink how she deals with people of color. My teenager was a patient of Dr. Koren who ignored multiple signs of mental illness because she chose to focus on gender issues. While we would never want to minimize gender issues, when there are obvious signs that there is more going on, it is best to look at the WHOLE picture. That wasn’t done and my outcries were ignored because I am a woman of color. Nothing has helped this child and genders have been switched, etc. Which proves my initial point—it isn’t only about gender issues.
