I saw him twice. Both times he was professional but friendly. Very informative.

Poor bedside manner out of the gate. I have no idea why he was acting arrogant and indifferent, the attitude improved by the end of the exam but I would not recommend him to anyone I care about. Time to retire Doc.

My son was having lots of knee pain, and since he is a high level athlete, Dr. Monteleone’s office got him in for an appointment in less than a week after receiving the referral from our doctor. He was thorough, knowledgeable, pleasant, and explained everything to us. We were very impressed with him.

I waited over 4 months to see this guy who claims to be a doctor, I could barely walk, he never even examined my knees, he said nothing was wrong according to the x-rays, he has no personalty skills, should have his license revoked, I wouldn't go back even if he was the last dr on earth, extremely dissatisfied.

This guys could care less about the people he treats or the injuries they have. When to him after an accident and had non stop issues with my knee along with it locking up randomly. He looked at it for what seemed 30 seconds I scheduled me a follow up appointment, insisting nothing is wrong and I don't need surgery. After him making me walk around for 2 years like this he finally referred me to a surgeon who did the surgery and found damaged ligaments and my cartilage was torn in half. Thanks for nothing and find a new career, because your a horrible doctor.

I highly DO NOT recommend this Dr. I was referred to him for my shoulder/arm from a fall. Originally thought fractured humerus. He with little examination said it was a torn rotator cuff. I politely told him no as I had torn my other rotator yrs prior playing ball. He was very adamant it was and sent to to physio therapy down the hall from his office. The physio therapist was very nice and within the 3 appt tried to talk to him via email as she wanting him to send me for further xrays CT or ultrasound as anything she attempted to do cause me excruciating pain even the “ tens machine” has me in tears on the lowest setting. She felt it wasn’t my RC . She felt is was my AC joint and an issue with my colour bone.Dr M did not would not respond to her, I had to make another appt to see him to which he was very condescending and rude and dismissive. He just told me it was a torn rotator cuff and he could only offer me cortisone injections. He would not even send me for further testing, let alone listen to how I was feeling take it or leave it were my only options. I left of course I wanted more than a bandaid fix. I continued with physio and after 8 appointments with no increase in ROM etc I gave up. Not having a reg GP in Kelowna didn’t help my situation either. So now 3 yrs later still with the same problems but now with a GP she sent me for xrays ultrasound the “ full meal “ work up. After all my test results came back it turns out physio was right and Dr M was completely wrong. AC joint and hairline fracture were the issue now I am in degenerative stages of osteoarthritis in my shoulder to which nothing can be done. There are so many things I can not do, due to the lack of this so called Dr. STAY AWAY! Seek treatment elsewhere!

I must admit, after reading several of these reviews, I almost requested a different specialist, but then i thought I am going to form my own opinion. Really? he cant be that bad. And having said that, I am very glad I didn't switch. His receptionist was very friendly and helpful. She had me laughing and very much at ease. When I got into see Dr. Monteleone, he was very professional, and got right down to business. Within minutes, he had determined I had torn my ACL, MCL, miniscus, hurt some cartilage, and bone bruising in my knee. He was prompt in my course of action, and made me understand the repercussions if I didn't do as I was told. I am to put no weight on it for 2 weeks, and then I start physio for 6 weeks, and re-evaluate when I'm finished to see if surgery is necessary. So, I write this in 100% support of anyone getting the opportunity to see him. Make your own decisions- he's an amazing specialist, and I am glad I didn't listen to other reviews, as I possibly could not have had the same outcome. Thank you Dr. Monteleone :)

Like others have said, unless you're an athlete, see someone else.
When I was 15 years old I got into a car accident, i was crossing the road and got struck from the side by a car going 50km/h. My GP referred me to Dr. Monteleone for my knee injuries and before my appointment I had x-rays of my knees done, and the x-rays did not show anything. At my first (and only) appointment with Dr. M, he gave me a diagnosis in 5 min just by bending and feeling my knee, i thought this was kinda odd because he never ordered an MRI to confirm any anything, so this 'diagnosis' was really just a bunch of assumptions. He said one knee had a fully torn ACL, and the other knee had a partially torn MCL and maybe broken cartilage. So he suggested physiotherapy and knee brace, so I did a bit of physiotherapy and got a brace, it helped for a bit.

Fast forward to this year, i'm now 21 and a few months ago I had my second appointment with Dr. Monteleone to figure out what exactly is wrong with my knees. At my first appointment 6 years ago he was very knowledgeable, attentive, and had empathy. He seemed like he cared and wanted to help and he really knew what he was doing/talking about. I don't know what changed over 6 years, but now it just seems like he could care less, i honestly felt as though i was just another appointment to make that cheque at the end of the month.
During my appointment I told him the diagnosis he gave me before and that I never got an mri. (since he didn't have my record anymore.) He felt my knee over my jeans for about 1 min and said "I believe you just have some broken cartilage in your one knee" then he went on to tell me to just exercise and keep my leg strong and it'll be fine and that was it. He was so apathetic during my whole appointment and just did the bare minimum. He didn't care about my pain nor did he care to help. My appointment was literally less than 5 min long and i was his first appointment of the day, so either he just wasn't awake yet, or just didn't give a ****. I'm guessing the second one. Oh and I forgot about the receptionist, she's not very nice and doesn't care either.
