In 1997 I had a vein removed by Dr. Hunt. I could have had the vein removed by surgeons in Sudbury, but I chose to stay in my hometown to cut down on the wait for the surgery. I have had nothing but nightmares since. He did NO follow up after the surgery. He told me to see my family doctor for my follow up. I had an ulcer in 2008 that almost cost me my leg. My leg is in constant pain and now has multiple small ulcers. I saw vascular surgeons in 2009 and they told me that it looked like my surgery had been performed with a "butter knife". My lesson learned was to wait for the experts instead of opting for a surgeon that can barely keep his hands from trembling he is so old.

I am a caregiver for a patient of Dr. Hunt, who had ulcers. For months I asked the man about Osteomylitis in the wound. All he did was question my qualifications, and dismissed the idea. $ months later, the patient was admitted for amputation,(different surgeon), due to the worst case of osteomylitis he has even seen. Dr. Hunt has a problem with women. He is a bully. He belittled several of our staff, but chose not to try it with me. I am a healthy male. he now hides from me when I am present. We have had to make sure that he is not to treat outr patient and have warned him to stay away from our staff. The man may have been a good surgeon at one time. But has retired now, 4 times only to come right back to work. Parry Sound does now have a great ortho surgeon,Dr Smythe is in town to stay folks, and he is good at his job. Sherwani is as well good, and if you need someone in a hurry, Dr. Hatfield is still there with a pleasant bedside manner

Last year, Dr. Hunt performed a biopsy of a tumor on my Dad's spine without stopping Dad's blood thinner first....as a result, Dad bled out for a week and became so feeble and close to death that our family was called home. Dad pulled through but once the diagnosis of cancer came a few weeks later, Sudbury Dr.'s wouldn't consider him for treatment because he was too frail due to Hunt's mistake. In the hospital, Hunt avoided us, knowing he had messed up. Dad died 4 months later and my family feels like he was cheated out of treatment and perhaps a prolonged life. I too know many others who have suffered at the hands of Dr. Hunt. Just because you live in a small town, doesn't mean you have to be grateful just to have a surgeon....there are very good, younger surgeons who possess current knowledge and would love to live in Parry Sound if given OR time.

Dr. Hunt and all the surgical staff and nurses in OB, well, in a word...AMAZING!! I hemoraged after giving birth to my daughter and no time was wasted at 4:00 a.m. to have all team members in place...I owe them my life. Without these doctors/nurses/surgeons I wouldn't be here to enjoy my family. Please remember that these people are human beings...I trust that as humans, you have all made huge mistakes in your life. Suppose you have done 25,000 surgeries and even 1000 of them have complications....still good odds and so I conclude that he has helped more people than he had hindered...as with all surgeons. I have had knee specialists compliment him on two occasions...in fact one eventually came to Parry Sound to work part time. He has done two surgeries on myself, two on my mother and at least one on my father....all have been successful and know that if he messes something up he'll do whatever he can to fix it and make it right. Perhaps some of you should be surgeons??

i had my eye lid operated on by dr hunt, a bump had to be removed. i was awake! i felt no pain, i saw no shaking and he was very focused and well experienced! i think parry sound hospital would be lost without the knowledege of Dr Hunt and Dr Hatfield aswell! It is their lives to save people, and yes they may be older, and not retired, however they are what parry sound relies on for all surgeries. I think they are an amazing team for the hospital and have accomplished a lot for parry sound! Kudos to the Doctors to have dedicated their time and efforts to saving the lives on people!

its a shame that when one lives in a small town we forget that bad news travels faster and longer than the good. Im sure surgery for surgery you could find many other younger drs with worse track records- bed side manner? He isnt your friend , he is your surgeon.. within a week of finding a lump in my breast it was out- at 35 Im one of the lucky ones- scar -yes, if you were able to be awake during surgery one would know that his hands dont shake- talent- above and beyond- this town is lucky to have had him for so long.. new young dr's may have new ideas, but i doubt better skiils

Cmon folks, cut the guy some slack! He's served Parry Sound faithfully for 40 years. Sure he's got a lousy bedside manner, but his judgement is excellent and his skills are still good, even at his age. Everybody gets scars, and some get ugly ones. So what. He's saved many, many lives over the years. I'd rather have a grumpy old surgeon who knows what hes doing, than a smiley-face who doesnt.
