The worst psychiatrist I have ever seen, and at 68 years old with bipolar disorder, I have seen a lot. He hasn't kept up with his field, and he offered me no hope. Terrible!

Teplitz is primarily interested in milking insurers and patients. I understand the need to try different medications and doses for optimizing. But this doctor insists on a separate and full
office visit for every minor change in the prescription. And nothing of substance happens in those frivolous visits. Worse yet, I suspect he starts with the least effective medication so he can drag out the process and bill for as many visits as possible. I know because I switched to another psychiatrist and got much better results without all the fuss.

Hello Dr. Teplitz, I wrote a whole paragraph and I am asked to write again. So here goes:
Dr. Terry Teplitz has very good knowledge about medications. His patients need to work with him and trust him. He always asks what he needs to know about a patient at each session and with some continuity. He also has good knowledge about neurology. He likes his patient. He is a friendly physician also. This practitioner will ask to be paid in advance of his services and threatens to send the patient's account to collections days after the final services take place. He demonstrates a hostile attitude toward patients and clearly interested in his money first and foremost. This is too bad, since he seems knowledgeable about medicine.

My mother died 3 years ago but I am compiled to write this review because of the negative ones I see on this site. Dr. Teplitz may seem abrupt but I found him refreshingly to the point, Big difference. He was kind to my mother who had Alzheimer's, the first doc we saw who could look me in the eye and be frank about the realities of what to expect. He was right each time. When she died I received a very nice note from him, the only one of the 4 doctors I informed of her death in hospice. I cannot recommend him highly enough if you are ready for the truth about Alzheimer's and how to prepare to be a good and effective caregiver. My mother in law is now in my care with Alzheimer's as well and her will be her doctor soon. She could't be in better hands.

I have consulted Dr. Teplitz as a geriatric Psychiatrist, related to my concerns about possible pre-Alzheimers because is it sin my family. Dr. Teplitz has been prompt, returned my calls quickly, demonstrated extraordinary care in determining medications and dosages, and in referring me to a neurological psychologist for cognitive assessment. He remembers details from visit to visit, and his caution is very reassuring to me. Previously I worked with a psychiatrist who over-medicated me, which partially (at least) resulted in my going to sleep while driving and having a car accident. I strongly recommend Dr. Teplitz for older patients, particularly because the elderly have special issues with memory and reactions to medications.

One of the worst doctors I have consulted in decades. Arrogant, rude, narrow-minded. He also charged more than Medicare allows and passed their refusal of his extra charges onto me.
