Just had my gallbladder removed and a small hernia repaired. Dr.Kotylak was just great. I appreciate dealing with such a straight forward professional - from my first visit to his office through to today’s surgery he has been great to deal with .

I have read all of his reviews and I would suggest to everyone who left a negative comment — until you spend the years that it takes to become a surgeon - and put in the long hours, dedication and hard work required to achieve the professional standing of Doctor - perhaps you should keep your thoughts and comments to yourself..,,,,,,

Dr. Greg Kotylak saved my mother’s life in a simple yet difficult procedure. His straightforward communication style and humour allowed us to be healthily grounded during pre op visits, during and post procedures.

Anyone who left bad review for this doctor may have problems of own. This person really embodies healthcare and is a top surgeon who is very competent in his god given abilities and talent.

We are grateful for people like Dr. Kotylak to exist in Maple Ridge and we are blessed to be in his care.

Dr. Greg Kotylak reviewed a lump on my back April 14, 2023. He definitely is a no nonsense doctor, althought he does absolutley have a sense of humour. He is efficient with his assessment and explains the prognosis and options quickly and thoroughly. At that point the decision is really up to you to weigh. Then off he goes to see his next patient. I think people misinterpret this as abruptness, but I don't think it is. Some people take longer to digest the information they are provided, I'm sure he recognizes this and believes his time is better spent elsewhere. And it probably is.

His receptionist was friendly, professional and also thorough.

Operated on my neck. Far too aggressive, very little freezing and caused much pain.
I would rather have had my Dentist administer the freezing.

Horrible , has lost sight in why he became a doctor, all he sees is $ signs when he sees a patient

This doctor is so rude and so arrogant and so disrespectful and uncaring I am still reeling from his attitude towards me.when I asked him what they were going to do for the enormous seroma I developed he laughed asked me what did I know about seroma. I told him that I could hear the obvious sloshing and I sounded like a water bed when I moved. He laughed at me again and said that was the sound of my own stomach making noises and never even looked at me. He then implied that my the drugs listed as being allergic to sounded like I was paving a path to receive my “ drug of choice”
And walked out…again laughing at me. He pressured me to have my PCA removed so he could release me from hospital saying” you can’t take it with you you know”. Laughing at me again. Please do not let this doctor near you. He may be a gifted surgeon ( as he refers to himself) but having compassion and respect for a patient is non existent and he may not feel he’s obligated to be compassionate but his lack thereof is NOT conducive to healing. I left earlier than I supposed to according to my post op caregivers. But his attitude toward me made me realize I was better off home alone then in his care.

I was referred to Dr. Kotylak for urgent surgery to remove an early stage 4 colon cancer. He saw me the very next and week scheduled a right ascending colectomy surgery ASAP. He completely explained the procedure and the required 4 day stay for post-op recovery at RMH. He also arranged urgent referral to the cancer clinic for post-op cancer treatment. His work was excellent, efficient and professional. His office staff and the whole surgical team at RMH were as well. The 2-hour laproscopic operation went flawlessly despite my tumor being double the estimated size from the scope.
