Doctor Poling was a great Doctor. But something has changed. He stopped working people in when they came down with flu. Say go the ER. He has stopped caring about patients. It's sad

My mother in-law goes to Gary Poling. I find his services to be inadequate for her needs. Several times my husband and his father told this dr. about what they were seeing, dizziness, dementia like symptoms, left leg gives out constantly, these are just a few of what her son and her husband were describing. Dr. Poling failed to listen and instead listened to her other son and wrote down as nothing more than old age. Due to my husband, his father and I continuous efforts to seek better treatment, Dr. Poling sent her to a specialist who found out she had excessive amounts of fluid on the brain and a herniated disc, plus her back is riddled with arthritis. Also, he had the results of her MRI three weeks before he even looked at them. My mother in-law has asked about the brand named drugs he prescribes because she spends about eight hundred dollars per month. His response was this, "I would not prescribe generic drugs to my own mother." What would he do if she could not afford them? Recently, she fell and broke her ankle. While in the ER, her other son called this dr. who told him to carry her home, come to his office the following morning and he would send her to an a dr in Princeton because he did not trust the orthopedics in Beckley. If this is the case, then why did he send her to an orthopedic in beckley with her back? Just because a dr. is acknowledgeable does not mean his performance is good.

I can overlook his less than professional staff because he is just so wonderful. He saved my life when other doctors would have stopped looking for the problem. He listens to me and if he doesn't know what the best treatment option is, he'll find it. He is by far the best doctor in the Beckley area, and I would not hesitate to put him up against any doctor in the state.

Best diagnostic MD EVER. Saved my life twice with unusual circumstances that others would never have caught. Nurses hate having his patients because he is a patient oriented Doctor and demands the best for the patient but all the nurses want him to be their Doctor. He has a waiting list a mile long because he will only take so many patients. He gives you his full attention and does not rush you during a visit. He will not hestitate to tell you if you are wrong however so don't expect someone who will just give you everything YOU think you need. Hypochondriacs will find another Doctor. I suspect those who rate him poorly of being hypochondriacs. He has integrity. Something I thought was long lost in the medical profession. Sorry, It is a long wait to get on his Patient list. Yeah for me.

Very knowledgeable. And if he doesn't know, he's not afraid to call other doctors and ask.

This doctor is unorderly and can not maintain a professional stature. Certain members of this staff are inadequate to the medical industrty. I needed medical equipment..Dr. Poling denied to sign order for my needs. I would not recoomend him to any patient in or around the Beckley, WV area.

Dr. Poling is extremely knowledgeable, proactive, caring and thorough. He is unequaled by any doctor we have ever encountered. He is highly respected and well-known even in hospitals in other parts of the state. We can't say enough good things about this physician.
