Love love love him! He saw me once & recommended surgery but gave my parents and I the opportunity to decided what we wanted to do. I'm 17 and will be going in for a CM surgery in December. Between him and his staff, they answer my questions & keep me calm. His sense of humor and very serious where he may come off arrogant but he is incredibly intelligent & i appreciate everything he does for me!

After 5yrs of MRI's and being diagnosed with Chiari 1 w/ a 7mm herniation. We drove 5 hrs to have him walk in tell me that I did not have Chiari that those other Dr.s and radiologist were wrong. I was making up my symptoms and there was nothing wrong with me. I could have handled a " I cant help you because its not herniated enough" but to say 5yrs worth of Dr.s and all my suffering was wrong and make up I can not handle. He wouldn't listen to my or my family's concerns or questions. There are no words to describe what I think of the doctor.Do your research before you waste your time, money and emotions.

Mis-diagnosed our daughter's V-P shunt being displaced in her brain. The shunt had completely pulled out of her ventricle and she was symptomatic of shunt failure. We felt that Dr. Menezes would not listen to our concerns and told us to come back in 6 months that he couldn't appreciate our concerns of shunt malfunction. We took our daughter to Mayo and brought the scans from Menezes office and clearly her shunt was pulled out of the ventricle. 10 hours after meeting Mayo surgeon, our daughter was in the operating room. Twice when we had appts scheduled with Menezes the office staff would try and make us see an NP! People do not drive 4 hours because their local neurosurgeons aren't comfortable with your child's condition to see a NP! Very disappointing!

I had surgery in 2007 after having gone to the Mayo Clinic for years and not having surgery. He informed me that having Chiari Decompression surgery should happen before symptoms start, which the Mayo doctors said didn't matter. He also found out my interests and made me feel calmer. He is the best in the midwest for Chiari patients, although not the greatest with following up on patients. For example, I only received one MRI 3 mo after surgery and have asked for one since but been denied. He is a great doctor all in all.

This man is extemly smart. I can't thank him enough for his talents. If I lived anywhere in the world and could pick any neuro sergeon to operate on me or any of my family members this would be a guy I would pick. Yes he knows he is good at what he does but so would I if I was that good at my occupation. We are lucky to have him practicing medicine in the United States because he is the best at what he does.

Dr.Menezes operated on our 7yr old son: Arnold Chiari causing syringomyelia presenting in scoliosis. Our son will turn 14 and he has regular checkups with Menezes who is top of his field and yes maybe a bit arrogant but I have yet to find a surgeon who isn't!! Our son is in perfect health and we are grateful for Menezes'care. He joked with our son often so that my son wore Sponge Bob boxers to his surgery just for Menezes. He hugged and put his arm around my son and me and was very caring. Menzes was matter of fact with my husband and I during consultation and we appreciated it. After opening our son up Menezes was surprised at the amount of CSF and could not believe our son did not have hydrocephalus. We thanked him for his care after surgery and he told us that it had been the hand of God, not himself. We had such faith in Dr Menezes and his surgical procedure that we turned down free surgery and care at the Shriner Hospital and went to UIHC Dr.Menezes is our doctor of choice!

dr. menezes doesn't want you to research your own condition. he seems to have no desire to deal with complicated cases. everytime I saw him he was in an extremely bad mood.

Dr. Menezes is arrogant and condescending. As one of the other posters said, he believes himself to be the world's best neurosurgeon for certain conditions and will openly badmouth other physicians. Be very careful how you evaluate his medical advice and seek a second opinion.
