I had Dr. Froats as my on-call dr when my daughter was born and I didn't mind him at first, even though he showed after my baby was actually born (busy night, I'm guessing). Until he started to stitch me up and forgot to freeze completely--I felt the first stitch and complained for a few second before he stopped, asked if it was frozen then froze it. Next time was just before I left the hospital. I had family members and friends with me and he asked in front of them what birth control I was going on. Never asked if I wanted to discuss the topic in private or not. Didn't like him before (heard lots of bad stuff) and really don't like him now

I lost my son Johnathon in 2007 and I had Froats as the OB/GYN...When I went to the office the next day after finding out my son had no heartbeat..I was treated like a normal pregnant woman. Pee in a cup and so on.I snapped saying it is not like I am carrying alive baby, my baby is dead..I was then taken into a room and giving two options. I choose the second one which was to be induced into labour and give birth to my son...The next day I went in and he induced labour..About 6 1/2 hours later my son was born..After I gave birth he tried to ripe out the after birth with his bare hands..Then over a year later I get the reports from him saying that my son was a spontanious abortion..I feel he is heartless when it comes like things like this..He has no caring bone in his body..

Dr.Froats is not the doctor for you if you are at all at risk for difficulties. I was not considered at risk for complications, but at about 28 weeks I began to have problems. My baby stopped growing and Dr.Froats was not concerned. My blood pressure reached scary levels and he was not concerned. My feet, ankles, and legs swelled to five times there size and he was not concerned. He kept telling me that everything was okay and that there was nothign to worry about. My gut feeling told me otherwise and I saught medical care from an OBGYN in Ottawa. I was the best move I could have made. My new doctor took things very seriously and ran a bunch of tests at the righ risk clinic at the Civic. I was induced a week later and gave birth to a 3lb 12oz baby girl. I was told my the medical professonals in Ottawa that my child would not have survived much longer if I had not been induced. If I had stayed in Dr.Froats care, my daughter would not be here today and I may not have been eitehr.

Dr froats is very slow to see pts usually an hr wait before he sees you. another doctor that shares an office with him saw 4 pts to dr froats 1 when my wife was there. he does not seem to be concerned with things like swelling and hip pain ect. he make far to much reference to the persons wt if they are a plus size person, this is demeaning to a person. i was not happy with this when my wife was in to see him

I liked that he was very punctual, as I hardly ever waited a long time in his office. They were also very accomodating for booking on short notice. I found him very soft spoken and easy to talk to. He was very thorough with examinations. I found him to be a bit "old school", a bit dismissive at times, somewhat narrow minded and not very liberal when considering treatment modalities for my disease. Contrary to some, I was ecstatic to finally have a pelvic exam without another set of eyes in the room- so I liked this policy. He made a few bold comments/statements I didn't care for and he wasn't helpful for my particular problem which is ultimately why I left.

There is no denying that Dr.Froats is very knowledgeable about obstetrics and gynecology. But he does have a few draw backs. I had to see him to be induced for my second pregnancy. What I didn't like about him was that when I went for my visit to his office I was told to put on the paper gown with the opening in the front. Well of course it wouldn't go completely around me, so I sat there meeting this new doctor with everything hanging out. I also didn't like that fact that you have to request to have a nure present for your internal exam. I thought that it was some kind of medical law that if a male doctor is doing the exam than a female nurse must be present.

Dr. Froats is an excellent doctor. He delivered both of my children, by caesarian and I had an excellent recovery both times. I also saw him for some gynecological issues when I was younger, and he was very caring and explained everything to me. He is very professional and knowledgeable of his field.

He has a terrible bedside manner. He delivered my 3rd child (he was the on-call doctor), and made it incredibly uncomfortable. He did not listen to me or my husband. He thought that he knew what I wanted better than I did. I would never go to him again. And recommend others to avoid him as well.
