Cashed in to the "everyone born female who doesn't act like a feminine demure young lady is BORDERLINE!"/" females can't have gender dysphoria, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, substance abuse problems, or struggle with their sexuality! Any male with the same symptoms would be diagnosed as one or more of these conditions, but since they were born female they are BORDERLINE! " trend, and thankfully now that trend is over which is why they struggle to make ends meet. They tried to tell my terrified parents that my severe gender dysphoria and the resulting self-medication b/c of not being allowed to transition, body-hatred, my nonheterosexuality/lifelong sensory sensitivities, obsessive pedantic interests, and social difficulties/procrastination, emotional dysregulation, and inability to complete tasks were all because I was "borderline" and I needed to sit around with overdramatic girls and, like they were, be prescribed anti-psychotics. Thank God my parents sought 2nd and 3rd opinions, both of whom LAUGHED at the idea I was "borderline" and diagnosed me with gender identity disorder (now GD), severe ADHD-C, and Asperger Syndrome (now ASD). I have transitioned to male medically, take stimulants for my ADHD and a PRN benzo a couple times a month for autism related meltdowns resulting in good mental health. I got my Ph.D and a law degree, and have an awesome partner and beloved pets. In the 1990s, "borderline" in females was a catch-all catch 22. Even Dr Wheelis seems to get this, given that Two Brattle now deals mostly with Adult ADHD/ autism, rather than the daytime groups of too-emotional females whose various issues were lumped into the fin-de-21st-ciecle version of hysteria, ie Borderline. I hope others like me dumped there in the 1990s because "only boys have ADHD/Autism!" or "you're not homosexual/feel like a boy/bisexual" or "using drugs to cope means you have a personality disorder, while your brother is just being a rebellious boy!" , or "being defiant as a girl means you have a fragmented sense of self, while your brother doing so indicates his strong sense of self!" have moved on to get diagnoses and treatment based on their often neurological and only sometimes psychological issues. Remember, "drapetomania", ie the supposedly "delusional affliction of runaway slaves who think they should be free" was once a psychiatric disorder as well.
