I've never had such a great doctor as Dr Alvarez, she's the first doctor I worked with that believed in me- and made it known. She had an amazing way of simplifying complex troubles and reassuring me we all mess up & need to forgive ourselves. Hands down the best doctor I've had and will ever have.

Dr. Alvarez was very professional. I found her treatment to be effective when other doctors were not. She did not mince words and listened well. I would highly recommend her to others. The address on this site is incorrect.

I would recommend Dr. Alvarez highly (and have) to anyone who is in need of a great Psychiatrist. She has helped me manage my chemical imbalance for a number of years. We work together to use the least amount of medications necessary, and concentrate on maintaining a healthy and positive lifestyle. Through working with Dr. Alvarez, I have gained confidence in myself and more trust for others, especially with dealing with issues of self esteem about my illness.

heard she moved into p-land. good, no loss. was pretty expensive and not worth it, but insurance was paying so i gave it a try. had high opinion of herself but wasn't very helpful. wasn't a good listener, just a quick assessment and come back for more appts. no office staff, just her and a couple docs who maybe didn't get along?? seemed really scattered too. maybe some psych issues of her own...

Saw her 2 years ago after she had recently moved her office to Hillsboro. She has since moved again to Portland. Very sure of herself (though wrong) and not very open to admitting it or listening to what I had to say. Totally into the meds approach despite bad side effects. Comes across as concerned but then just fake after a while. Wants lots of followups ($$$). Tried one thing, then another without much success. Wasted 5 sessions with her and then got better results from my family practice doctor on a mood related issue.
