When I failed to respond adequately to first line daily medications for anxiety Dr. Khousa thought it appropriate to prescribe mirtazepine, not mentioning that it's primarily used as an appetite stimulant After six weeks I had gained about 15 lbs. I expressed concern but she insisted that it was just a l temporary side effect and would level off. Since I was still a healthy weight I did not strongly object . Within 90 days I had gained TWENTY PERCENT of my body weight. I was shocked and appalled, and at that visit she expressed concern but said that since we were stopping the meds I should lose the weight quickly. Fast forward several months and I was not able to lose a single pound. She suggested that it was probably my fault and I began to diet obsessively - I remember she said "have you tried taking a green tea supplement?" And "Well you're 30 now, you can't expect to be the same weight forever".
It's been several years and despite an active lifestyle and many, many attempts at severe calorie restriction I've remained consistently overweight. Frankly I can't help but recall how she never even apologized for causing this radical and incredibly upsetting permanent change to my body.

she saved my life, not sure what I'd have done with out her help, most probably 'd have been in a mental institution. Dr. Kousa, made me feel I'm the only patient she has, she made accommodation to meet with me with my work schedule, she is genuine, caring, knowledgeable, and sincere. I'm very thankful for having her as my psychiatrist.

I took my girlfriend for an initial psychiatric appointment. My girlfriend is on Methadone Maintenance therapy and she is considering getting off methadone with the help of mood stabilizing medication. Dr. Kousa prescribed her Revia which is an opiate blocker. Despite my girlfriend's protest in which she referenced signs and materials at her methadone clinic, she wrote the scripts anyway. Kousa pretended to look in a PDR and said that there were no contraindications. A pharmacist confirmed that there is a negative interaction and will be calling Kousa tomorrow. My girlfriend also has hypertension and hypoglycemia. Putting her in severe withdrawal could've been life threatening. You'd hope that a psychiatrist would know something about the drugs she prescribed. It even stated on her handout that it shouldn't be taken with opiates. This doctor is Dangerous. We are considering reporting this to the medical boards.
