I broke my elbow; went to emergency and was fitted with a splint that was too tight, causing my hand to swell up. Went back to hospital and got fitted with a splint that fit better, and was given an appointment with Dr.O. I waited for some time after having a second x ray, and an intern came in. He told me I would be in a splint for another 2 wks and if that didn't work, an operation might be necessary. Then Dr. O came in and said there would be no splint and that I should lift my arm up and down and twist my wrist to excercise it. He prescribed OXYCONDIN and didn't bother to tell me when to come back, offer me a sling or anything. I understand they are very busy, but, I would think this would be the least they could do. I had to ask the nurse when I should come back, etc., and Dr O seemed very off put with me when he had to answer my questions. That is why I rated him the way I did. This is the first time I've been to this site, for the specific reason of seeing other comments.

This "Dr." is absolutely disgusting and I do not care if he is the best, as many say......he needs to learn to become human and treat his patients with dignity.....did he not have to take an oath of ethics when he became a Dr.?

Plain and simply Dr. Ogilvie is the top orthopedic surgeon in Canada! I seen a doctor in St. Catherines many years ago and he wanted to put pins in my knee and said that I would never play sports again. I was given Dr. Ogilvie's number by a school teacher of mine who swore that he was the best doctor out there and that he specialized in sports injuries. Dr. Ogilvie said that it was a good thing that I never went through with the other operation and that I did not need pins in my knee. After he performed my knee operation he fixed every problem that was wrong, no pins, and I was able to return to my position as a goaltender in hockey! He told me that I had some tears in my knee tissues that were probably there for 10 years! Dr. O told me that my other knee would need an operation eventually but to hold off as long as I could-I just had surgery yesterday and I am again so grateful to have him as my surgeon again! DR. OGILVIE IS A ONE OF A KIND AND IRRAPLACEABLE DOCTOR! Thanks a million!

A good surgeon no doubt. His office staff are absolutely useless. I waited for exactly two years on the so called urgent list for knee surgery. I was told to wait for a call for the surgery. I finally called his office to find out what was going on only to be told that there was no record of my case, yes they had lost my files. I was offered a consolation in that I could begin the whole process again. Forget it, I will see someone else! By the way, in my clinic patients never wait two years for surgery, my staff would not allow it.

I dont find his humour funny, its extreamly rude and offensive. He may be a fantastic surgeon but he has forgotten he was born a human!.Only takes a second to be compassionate!

I haven't had my surgery yet (ACL + Meniscus), but I have had my consult and I have to say that I don't understand the comments about his abrupt personality. I found him to be honest and informative and pretty funny. Good bedside manner and his confidence makes me feel at ease. Looking forward to having him slice me open after the comments I've read here.

I totally love this guy. He gave me hope when nobody else could. I will not settle for anyone but him when I have an orthopedic problem. He deserves much appreciation.

This man is extremely gifted and talented. I would not be satisfied with anyone else. People should realeize how lucky they are when they get him as their surgeon. If I had to I would have paid 20,000 dollars for his services on my knee. He only plays with best! Dr. O is my hero! Thank you for being who you are and fixing people like me up.

"GOD" as I refer to him, as many people say has no bedside manner. HA! If you know him and his abilities who needs bedside manner. There's only 2 "Orthos" that I would let near me. The head of ortho at Mac and the previous head of ortho. I am extremely lucky to have both surgeons on my side. After my accident, I was misdiagnosed by the local hospital, I supposedly tore the ligaments in my leg. I sat around for 48 hrs and went to see my ortho in Hamilton, who took one look, sent me right away for xrays and when I came back took one look and got on the phone right away. In less then 12 hrs I had a new ortho, cat scan and was booked for immediate surgery. I am truly grateful for his expertise. I have referred him to many people but have pre warned them that he is very "brass" as long as you know ahead of time you will get one of the finest surgeons in Canada. My hat off to you Dr. O. You call it like it is and don't sugar coat anything. Completely honest and efficient.
