I work in a job requiring extended kneeling and crouching in difficult positions and also the carrying of heavy tools and equipment using stairs or again through outdoor terrain straining legs and my knees. After 20+ years my knees started to act up and at time could no longer put weight on my left leg. After having "water on the knee" for almost a year and trying different things I ended up seeing Dr. Ogilvie. As some reviews have stated he is direct to the point, a man of few word due to being very busy, BUT, he is easy to understand and supportive of his patients and finding out the cause of the pain. My own doctor told me it was arthritis and not work related. After getting tests done by Dr. Ogilvie it was determined that no arthritis existed and it was Bursitis due to the type of work I do. After waiting a few months It was done today. The whole process from start to finish was professional. I would suggest anyone with this problem go see him. He knows his stuff!!

I had problems with my right knee for 8 months & saw 2 different knee specialists with no success . Finally my family doctor referred me to Dr. Ogilvie . Within minutes, to my amazement, the diagnosis was done, torn meniscus . I was also told another problem was "the light is on too much ". Huh? I asked. He explained further, he was referring to the refrigerator light when I was getting more food ! I chuckled & explained how my knee continuously swelled up when I tried to exercise. Long story short, he performed the arthroscopic surgery & 25 yrs. later,I play hockey 3 or 4 times a week with the help of a knee brace. He's told me many a time how excess weight causes undue stress on the knee joints & I try to keep my weight down. If you're looking for an honest & candid assessment of how to help your knees this is the Dr. you want to see & be prepared for the truth, even if it's not what you want to hear! If you want the BEST knee surgeon, look no further!

He saw me in 2006 with a meniscus tear in my right knee. I was a little scared going in because he was so quick and to the point. Our family friend is good friends with him and said he's a great man and not to worry. I went into surgery and came out 45mins later. He told me everything that happened and that I was done with sports due to having a knee of a 50 year old (i was 24). He was there when I had a questions or things happened after surgery. 4 years later I have torn it again and need urgent surgery. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my knee. I've had several friends who have had same surgery and aren't in as good of shape as me. I trust this doctor 100% an no one else. He's the best!

Today was my second visit to see Dr Ogilvie and it was a great visit I guess you could say! His staff is very friendly and so is Dr Ogilvie himself. He keeps short appointments but is very informative in the time you have with him! I have been to 3 other orthos and I will never ever go back to 2 of them as they were ****s! Dr Ogilvie is going to be doing a Tibial Tubercle Osteotomy on my which I am very nervous about but I am told I am in good hands! My family Dr told me that Dr Ogilvie isn't the type of Dr to operate unless its really needed so thats a good thing too but apparently I need to be operated on.....if any of you have ever had this precedure please feel free to let me know how it is or suggest some websites to get info from..... Make sure you have a list of questions when you go to see him!

Dr. O did my ACL reconstruction almost 3 years ago now. I went to him on a VERY strong recommendation from my physiotherapist. They said "he's the best!" Turns out, they were absolutely right! 3 years later my knee feels great and they still have me going in for yearly check ups. That really shows they care about your knee health long term! He does have a unique sense of humor that some may not get, and he did make a comment to my husband and I that was odd, but who cares!! Get over it!, it has no impact on his skill in the OR. He is definately the best at what he does. I would go back to him time and time again if need be, and would trust him with my children if they needed it. Coincidentally I have a check up in a month with him and am LOOKING FORWARD to seeing him :)

In late February, I fully tore my ACL and partially tore my meniscus. Luckily, I found this out very quickly (thanks to some great connections), and I was recommended to Dr. Ogilvie. I got my surgery on June 2, after my mom called and I got in on a cancellation because I am a student. Dr.O's staff was very quick in calling back and I am very grateful. Dr.O did a great job on my knee, it's getting better every day. Appointments with him are very quick, so you have to listen carefully. At times it can get annoying, but, he is a very busy man. He is also compassionate, you just don't see it very often :P. I was supposed to have another post-op appointment late July but it got bumped to late August, which is kind of frustrating. However, I was aware of this before and in my opinion, he deserves the break. If you want your knee fixed (especially ACL) Dr. Ogilvie is the doctor you want. After surgery be sure to follow his recovery procedure carefully and you'll be up and running in no time!

Went to him with a partial ACL tear, requesting a replacement. His advice was to keep using it, it may heal for up to 1 yr. If it blows completely, get surgery. If not, then I avoided surgery. So.... I got a brace, and kept on with sports as directed. When I saw him next, my ACL was (of course) completely severed. As a bonus prize (on top of suffering through a year of playing on a lamed acl) I had also now mascerated a good portion of my cartilage. Thanks, doc! I didn't feel that my attempts to tactfully raise this point penetrated his pedestal. His flippant attitude within our 60-second (3 month wait time) visits would have been more palatable had his prescription not have proven to be so damaging to me.

Many doctors wanted to write me off be he stuck with me. Myself and my family are extremley greatful. He continues to offer everything he can for me to this date and would highly reccomend him to anyone looking for a serious opinion and the best options avalible.

Just had me 3rd ACL recon a couple of months ago and I cannot say enough good things about this guy. I have been his patient since 2006. If I need/want to see him for any reason I usually get an appt. within a week. He always answers all my questions and signs all the forms I bring him (and there have plenty with more to come). He's one of the best you'll find and if you don't like his personality I say get over it. Consider yourself privileged to see him. His personality may indeed be unpredictable at times but the bottom line is that the guy knows what's he's doing. There are very few orthopods who I would let near me and he is one of the very few. I work in an OR and would never let one of the ortho docs I work with touch me. With Ogilvie you can be confident that your surgical procedure was done right the first time. And isn't that what everyone wants?

I was a student at Mac in the late 80's. I had had major knee problems for years and many surgeries that really didn't help. My first appointment with dr. O. I was impressed. He performed quite a number of scopes and ligament reconstruction. With his help and the help of the staff, I was able to give up walking with a cane and the last time I had any surgery is about 15 years ago. He gave me my life back. Although I live in Montreal, I would if need be go back to him.
