Proliance surgeons have effective gate-keepers. With Catholic Mychart down it is impossible to get in touch with an individual practitioner. Requests for email addresses and even extension numbers are refused.

He called me a pain seeker the day after my spine surgery because I asked for a pain medication that wouldn’t make me as high as the one he gave me. First time I met him was 30 minutes before my surgery, super rushed. Staff is all incompetent sending prescriptions to the wrong pharmacies or sometimes just not sending the prescriptions at all

On another medical rating site, I left a similar comment to this one. This experience occurred about 10 years ago. I hope things have changed for Dr. Blair who was pleasant enough. He showed my brother and I, my MRI's etc., and the rods and screws he planned to use in my back; he discussed the surgery with us etc. But in the words of his own office technician when I asked if he kept up with the new computer technology available in surgery, they both laughed and stated "who . . . not Dr. Blair. He does it the good old-fashioned way.” I would have ended up with 3 vertebrae fused with great big rods and screws that looked like they were meant for someone who was 300 lbs. I got a second opinion and referral (to Swedish in Seattle). The neurosurgeon had a complete team of assistants who monitored everything on a computers along with the normal complement of doctors and surgical nurses. I have only 2 vertebrae fused with much smaller rods and pins, plus the incision was, at maximum, a 1 inch. After at least 30 years of pain, I have been pain free for about 10. I truly recommend getting second opinions.

He couldn’t be bothered to even come talk to family after surgery. Staff at St Joseph was mortified and tried to get him to call me and he did not. Horrible and unacceptable behavior from a doctor!

I can't say enough great things about Dr. Blair. I am 6 weeks out of my spinal surgery. My procedure was done at St. Joseph Hospital. The facility and staff was excellent. I am now pain free and recovering as expected. I have returned to work with no issues. I can't thank Dr. Blair enough for giving me my life back.

Staff is rude and un-professional. I never saw the Dr. He cancelled my appointment at 4:45 the night . I believe the boss sets the tone and his staff is rude.

I had neck surgery with Dr. Blair 4 weeks ago. I was experiencing pain down my right arm and was having a difficult time at work. I had gone through all the usual conservative treatment options: physical therapy, massage and injections. All gave me some temporary relief. I had surgery with a rather small incision in the back of my neck right before Spring Break and was able to return to work at the end of that school break. I am pain free and very happy. Thanks Dr. Blair!

2 years ago I had a cortisone injection to relieve my herniated discs. The outcome was amazing and I was virtually pain free until recently. Unfortunately the pain came back so I scheduled another epidural. The second procedure was a nightmare. Firstly, Dr. Blair didn’t even say so much as a “hello” or even acknowledge me and just carried on about food and banter with his assistants like I wasn’t even there. I felt like cattle or a piece of meat. The first time (when it worked) Dr. Blair took his time to make sure he had the needle in the right position. When I experienced pain (pressure near the spine) he asked me what I was feeling. By contrast this time he just haphazardly went for it. Immediately when he put the needle in excruciating pain went through my hip and leg all the way down to my ankle. My leg began uncontrollably spasm and constrict and his nurse had to hold my leg down. He couldn’t have cared less what I was experiencing. The first procedure and one before that(from a different doctor) took about 5 minutes as great care was taken for precise needle positioning. This one took about a minute. Even with the numbing agent I could tell getting off the table that my symptoms were far worse. I waited 10 days hoping it was just a “cortisone flare up” but it wasn’t. Prior to the injection I had pain in my hip, now I have pain that goes from my back to my ankle. Before I could walk a block before having to rest, now I cannot go more than 100ft and I have to extremely contort my posture to do so. It was 10 times more painful than the first two injections I have had. I’m in twice the pain as before the injection and $1500 poorer for it. He clearly, and in my opinion carelessly, punctured something. Unfortunately I don’t have insurance (because I cannot afford it) so I cannot afford more tests to see what he did wrong. The fact that there isn’t any follow up from his office exhibits to me how little his practice cares about his patients’ outcomes.

My mom went to Dr. Blair for a lamonectomy. I truly wish she had chosen a different doctor. Mom was in a bad auto accident 18 yrs ago, and her neck as well as her lower back were severely injured. After multiple xrays, two MRI's, and a CT scan, Dr. Blair recommended the lamonectomy. I wish I could post the pictures my sister took of mom's back after the first surgery. The incision and sutures looked like something out of Frankenstein. Not only was the incision jagged, there were blisters and little sections of what looked like raw meat sticking out between the sutures. Two days later, mom required a second surgery as Dr
Blair had nicked the dura (the membrane that holds in the spinal fluid), and someone needed to do a patch. Should have been Dr. Blair, but it wasn't. He apparently went out of state for the weekend! So, she waited until Monday (4 days after her 1st surgery) for Dr. Blair to return. On that day, mom was taken into surgery to repair the cerebral spinal fluid leak. That seemed to work at first. After that, she had to undergo surgery #2. The drain Dr. Blair put in wasn't keeping up with discharge from the niw-failing dura patch. So she had surgery. A new, different type of drain was put after he cleaned out clotted blood and spinal fluid. Another patch was completed. So, again, everything seemed to be working. We are now into week 3 of mom being in the hospital. Another surgery was scheduled to remove the drain because it also failed to do a proper job. Now mind you, throughout all this, mom cannot be more than a 30° angle in bed, and was under orders to not move AT ALL! And now we are into week #4! Surgery was scheduled to repair another spinal fluid leak. They had mom so drugged from that she started having hallucinations. When she was finally looking at discharge date, she came down with c. dif, and got really sick. For a procedure that should've had 2-3 day hospital stay, mom was there for five weeks.

Now she is undergoing treatment weekly to have the incision protrusions burned off with silver nitrate. This procedure is VERY painful. 3-1/2 months after her original surgery, she is STILL not healed, has a nasty-looking scar, and is on as much pain as she was before the surgery. My advice? If you see Dr. Blair on the sidewalk or in a store, turn away and run. Run fast! Mom still has a lot of pain in her back. Such a totally botched job.
