I come from a small town in Alaska where true medicine is still practiced and I NEVER expected to find a doctor as fine as Dr. Reininga here in New Mexico. He always spends as much time with me as is needed--and my issues are complicated--and he is by far the most compassionate person I've ever met. If you go to see this wonderful MD you better make sure you know yourself well however, because he'll make you see things about yourself that will surprise you and it comes as a shock if you are trying to fool yourself--believe me I know and I wasn't even trying to be dishonest. I would trust my life to Mark Reininga and I wouldn't say that about anyone else other than my husband. At a time when the health system is a disaster in this country, it is helpful to know there are still a few truely great doctors available to us. I only wish Dr. Reininga knew how much he has done for me--telling him just doesn't seem enough. I hope this message will reach someone who will make an appt.to see him.

A very compassionate Doctor, which seems so rare today.

Dr Reininga saved my life, and I'm not being glib. If you need to get off of heroin/methadone or any opiates, this guy will give you straight talk and honest, individualized prognoses. Drug seeking, dishonest patients be well aware: This Doc knows his stuff backwards and forwards and will show you the door if you cannot explicate the specific aspect of your addiction honestly when questioned. An anomaly in the medical profession, particularly in the area of addiction treatment, Mark is not to be trifled with. Conversely, when you are honest and forthright, he is the most loving, gentle human being you could ever hope to receive attention from. Not a preacher but a renegade, his knowledge can save lives if you allow it. No bull with him, though. He's a visionary, and a master of the human chess match that is addiction treatment. Worth the wait and the appointment hassle. Once you get in, you never feel rushed. I know this guy may seem too good to be true but this is honest. He's real.
