I know people probably say this a lot about their doctors but this is the first time I have ever said this. I feel like I am smarter than him and that is scary when you feel like you are smarter than your doctor. I have been to him on 2 separate occasions with 2 different ailments. Both times I told him what it was and both times he said it was something else. I went to other doctors afterwards who told me that it was what I thought it was. He's a very nice guy but in my opinion a terrible doctor.

Prescribed me with Paxil when I went to him with post-college anxiety. Paxil has serious side effects and is very hard to get off. Also was unnecessary - I didn't take the drugs, and I got better on my own, primarily through the use of probiotics, since my anxiety was largely due to a digestive problem that I have had for years, and which Dr. Aiken was aware of. Additionally, he told my mother there was nothing wrong with her when she went in to see him about pain in her throat, and it turned out that cancer was spreading throughout her body, which eventually killed her, and perhaps could have been detected early enough to save her life if he had done his job.

I have been a patient of Dr. Aiken for over 20 years. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He is very thorough and has frequently referred me for further testing when warranted. He is genuine, caring and very experienced. I have recommended several friends to him and they are delighted to be with someone (at last) who really pays attention and is thoroughly knowledgeable.

I have waited over an hour on most visits. Nice guy but we haven't reached diagnosis very quickly or accurately on 3 occassions. Feel he is following insurance or Intermed's protocols rather than making his own decisions resulting in a trial and error approach. Referred health staff have questioned his diagnosis.
