Post liver transplant, Dr. Smith took very good care of me. He was always very engaged with me and my family during our visits. He was available to sit and discuss all aspects of my recovery and medications.

Very nice doctor with good knowledge. However, he works at Duke Hospital, which means you are going to be billed twice and outrageous "outpatient fees" for routine doctors visits. I will no longer be seeing him since Duke allows people with good insurance to be charged so much for nothing but routine office visits. A normal visit has left me with 518.00 dollars worth of charges. I have a high plan BCBS insurance and they paid what they could. Duke is simply a greedy institution.

Very thorough, ask good questions. He will take the time to get all the information. He also will make sure the support groups are thorough and on time.

I think Dr. Smith is terrific. He always takes time with me, always explains everything so that I can understand, and is wonderfully warm and friendly. He instills confidence, which is needed by post-transplant patients like me. It's a very scary surgery, and the follow up is intense, so a patient needs to be made to feel comfortable with his/her treatment. Dr. Smith gets that and I am most grateful to him.

Dr. Smith is extremely helpful,explaining in layman's terms the disease and treatment. He has a warm and carlng bedside manner. I highly reccomend this doctor to anyone
