Excellent Dr. She made me feel at ease about procedure.I asked for light sedation, all went very well, my fears were for nothing.Would have this Dr.do this procedure again if I required it. April 5th 2024

I was excited to see Dr Baffis as she's rated so highly and is the head of GI at McGill university. Unfortunately I was incredibly disappointed by my visit. She's rude, egotistical and treats her patients like idiots. It was for an gastroscopy so I'd been fasting all day and then had to wait another hour and a half to see her. When she came out to get me I was doing work on my laptop and was when I said "do you mind if I just save this?" she frowned, grabbed my bag from the floor and raced off down the hallway. I am a fit 47 year old and I literally had to run after her so I wouldn't lose her. I was promised by her staff that she'd answer any questions I had before the procedure and for efficiency I had 5 basic questions written on a piece of paper. She answered 2, insulted my GP for putting me on some GI medication among other things and was visibly affronted when I described my symptoms in medical terms rather than lay terms. It was like, how dare I know anything about my condition? Before I could get to question 3 she instructed her assistant to stick the endoscopy tube down my throat. After the procedure was done I tried my best to ask her one more question - if menopause could be what was causing my increased reflux. She was wheeling me out the door on the bed as she curtly answered "could be!" and shoved me into the hallway then left. An orderly gave me a printout with generic instructions for all reflux sufferers (have your last meal of the day early, avoid alcohol, caffeine, tomatoes, citrus and deep fried food) a new cocktail of drugs, and a follow up appointment was made for 6 months. Except the results of one of the things she was testing for - H-pylori - would be back in 3 weeks. If I was positive for this there was a simple antibiotic I could take and all my problems would be over. Unfortunately Dr. Baffis made no moves to share these results for me and was not available to help at all before my 6 month follow up. I had to enlist my GP to request the results so that she could prescribe the antibiotics if needed rather than have me suffer while I waited for my next appointment with Dr Baffis. In the end I didn't have H-pylori but my GP suggested I see a different GI, one who has a better bedside manner, and thankfully I found a great one. Not only did she call me before our initial appointment and ask me a whole lot of questions and answer whatever I needed, in our in-person appointment she took seriously my concern about menopause being the cause of my issues and referred me to a gynecologist to investigate further. He discovered what was really going on - long term use of the contraceptive pill was giving me increased reflux. If only Dr. Baffis took the time to listen to and talk to her patients she might have gotten me on the right track too.

My procedure was at the MGH. Dr Baffis is very personable professional, knowledgeable and compassionate, with amazing bed side manner. I fell asleep and did not feel a thing and was perfectly fine after waking up. The office staff is easy to reach and are very helpful. Thank you, Julia and others I have talked to! The resident went above and beyond by going to see if a different specialist could take care of an unrelated issue and prepared a referral. I am truly grateful to Dr. Baffis and her amazing team. You are all shining stars in our broken medical system. Thank you!!!

Having had a procedure and then follow up with Dr Baffis has restored my confidence of our health care system in Montreal. I have never dealt with such a caring professional. Beautiful inside and out!
