I don't agree with all of the negative comments. Dr. Blacklock is so knowledgeable and friendly. She doesn't rush anything and takes her time to listen to my questions and concerns. At first I was intimidated by her but now am so happy that she is our daughter's pediatrician. Her secretary is also so friendly and kind.

I'm not sure if I agree with all the negative comments here. She is our sons' pediatrician and I've never noticed any unfriendliness or callousness. In fact, she's quite thorough and helpful, though I will admit that at times she seems unsure what to do when you present her with an unusual situation or symptom. I have noticed as well that she doesn't seem all that concerned with patients' privacy at times. But is she a terrible doc? I don't believe so.

I don't know why everyone on here is bashing her. I at first thought she was a little condescending, but I soon realized that's just the way she is (personality wise). I think she is very caring and smart. She tells it like it is (no sugar coating). I am there for help with the medical side of my eating disorder. I am thankful for her care (seeing as I am older than 18). She is very sweet, and her secretary is as well. Bev gets my test results in early for me, and sits with me in the waiting room and both her and Dr.Blacklock are kind and compassionate. I think there is lots of empathy and I can tell she is very educated. She cautiously prescribed me medication and is doing wonderfully with follow-up. I think she is a wonderful doctor and Bev her secretary is wonderful too.

Not very prepared for assisting families with the diagnosis of ADHD. After researching, I found numerous Canadian programs and local support groups to assist, that Dr. Blacklock wasn't even aware of. Aside from passing over a prescription (which we have decided not to fill) she was not helpful or very empathetic at all. She has terrible bedside manner!

My son was referred to Dr.Blacklock when Dr.Baird left Sudbury a few years ago. At first, I found Dr.Blacklock to be very intimidating and cold. After a few visits with her my perception changed drastically!! She found a lump in my sons neck, which turned out to be a goitre. Because she knew little about the thyroid, she referred him to an endocrinologist at sick kids. She was very honest with me that she didn't know enough to help him, which I was very thankful for. In my opinion, she comes off as cold and heartless because she is not afraid to tell the parents how it is and she does not "sugar coat" things. I would rather have a doctor who will tell me straight up what is going on than one who "**** foots" around. She has taken the time to get to know my son, as well as, myself. She has been a GREAT doctor to my son and has been VERY supportive of me, as a single mother!!

She was the pediatrician on call in the hospital the weekend my daughter was born, unfortunately for us. She diagnosed her with hip displasia, and sent her for an ultrasound to confirm. After waiting 5 days for the ultrasound and worrying about it, our family doctor gets the radiologists report and there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG with my daughter's hip. On top of that, she walked into the room, didn't identify herself, and didn't explain anything that she was doing. She refused to answer any questions we were asking, and acted like it was a hassle for her to be there. I would never bring my child to her. If I were refered to her, I would do everything I could to see a diffent doctor, even if I had to drive to Toronto.

This doctor almost killed my son. We brought him to the emergency department under the advisement of our family doctor. Dr. Blacklock said he didn't look very sick and released him with a prescription. The pharmacist said the prescription was meant to be administered by IV and not by mouth (the opposite of what she prescribed). We brought him back to the hospital because he was becoming more ill. Dr. Blacklock admitted him to the hospital. She treated him for e-coli. He continued to get worse and worse until the nurses at the hospital told us to get him out of there or he would die under her care. We personally removed him and brought him to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. They admitted him immediately, he needed transfusions and did a colonoscopy to discover he had ulcerative colitis. He was in the hospital for over a month and will be on meds permanently. He is alive thanks to Sick Kids Hospital and would be dead if left in Dr. Blacklock's care.

Dr. Blacklock is great. She is treating our baby and we see her every 3 months. We have nothing but great things to say about her: Kind, gentle, caring and respectful. We feel very lucky that our baby girl is in such good hands.
