20 plus years ago I was sent to dr. Acheson with a badly infected tooth for which I taking an antibiotic. He tried to freeze the tooth several times but because of the infection it wasn't working. Instead of setting up another appointment after the infection had cleared up, he decided to carry on without telling me a thing. I cried out in pain to which he told me to be quiet because I would scare other patients and then knelt on me to keep me from moving while he continued to torture me. I left traumatized and shaken to my core. I ended up losing the tooth. The sad part of all this is when I related my story to my dentist he listened but said nothing like I must be making this up or...a "code of silence" a line they don't cross. Stay clear of this man.

he was professional, caring, competent and informative. I had a root canal done which had a large infection and there was 4 canals. While the procedure was uncomfortable it was pain free. He was kind and respectful. Office staff needs some improvement as I had to tell them 3 times they had sent my dental info to the wrong insurer.

I saw Dr. Acheson and I found him dismissive, rude and very defensive.

My issue was an infected root canal, not one that he did to be fair but one that I had a number of years ago.
I have had many health problems since the root canal was done, with the most recent being severely stiff joints, swollen face and blurred vision. Very alarming for sure. Dr. Acheson said the most likely cause of these problems are due to a sinus infection and the 2 rounds of antibiotics I just finished wouldn't have helped because they were the wrong kind. He did suggest I contact my doctor and get it checked into.

I asked him if perhaps I should pull the infected tooth and he gave me a disgusted look and asked me why? I sheepishly said so there would be no chance of it getting infected again. I probably would have asked a few more questions but at this point I felt he just wanted me to leave. He did say the infected root canal would need to be taken care of, this is of course after I asked him if he was going to do anything about it. He kindly booked another appointment for me.

At the end of the day, I left his office with the feeling he did not care about my dental health or my overall health at all. I still don't know if fixing a failed root canal is going to ensure infection doesn't enter my body and as much as Dr. Acheson says that infection couldn't be the cause of my sinus infection...I don't know. Too bad I didn't feel brave enough to ask him more questions about it. So if you're looking for a doctor that is open minded and caring, I can't say Dr. Wayne Acheson is your guy.

Was experiencing extreme pain in teeth over prolonged period and upon seeing and being examined by a new (to me) Dentist, Dr. Coulter on 2015-01-20 was immediately referred to Dr. Acheson. Between the time I saw Dr. Coulter at 8 AM when he did a 1 hours examination in North Kildonan and Dr. Acheson was finished doing a root canal in downtown Winnipeg and I walked to my car, it was 11:45 AM. I looked at the reviews here and I cannot understand the negative comments being attributed to the same Dr. Acheson and staff who graciously accommodated me on an emergency basis and were kind, considerate, professional and accommodating in all respects. Highly recommended.

I just had a root canal performed by Dr. Acheson and must say he was very gentle and caring. I had no pain whatsoever during the procedure. He asked me several times if I was o.k. He may not be the most talkative person but he did explain what he had done and advised me how to proceed with my own dentist. I would certainly recommend him to family and friends. Very nice man.

While he may be a competent endodontist, this clinician behaves like a cave man. He has very poor interpersonal skills. Rather than asking me to open my mouth wider during a root canal, he pried my mouth open several times with his fingers. Rather than asking me to put my chin down, he used both hands to forcefully reposition my head. He paid no attention to my comfort level and did not talk to me at all. He just left the room at the end of the procedure and his assistant was left to answer my questions. I'm sure she did her best but it was clear she was out of her depth. I don't expect for an endodontist to be excessively friendly or warm but I do expect to be treated with respect. There was nothing respectful about his behaviour. I will not re-visit this clinic. There are other endodontists in Winnipeg. If you need endodontic treatment, go somewhere else.
