Just a follow up to my 11/23/10 post. I did get a second opinion and guess what. Everything Raimondo said was WRONG. Seems he has the only BP machines in Canada that register me high. I'm still very much alive without his prescriptions, still doing heavy cardio 4 times a week and healthier than ever. Don't ever just take this guy's word for any diagnosis. Get a second opinion.

Dr. Raimondo is one of the better "specialists" my husband has seen. Very thorogh and does not waste time talking about things that really do not matter. Straight and to the point.

I had never seen Dr Raimondo until I was referred a few weeks ago so I figured I'd write down a few paragraphs about myself for him to read to save some time. Didn't even look at it. For the past 5 years, I've been the poster boy for healthy eating and lifestyle. Fully proper vegan diet with perfect blood test results. I don't eat processed foods, no soft drinks, no alcohol, no smoking, no sugary foods, no preservatives, and on and on. I do heavy cardio 4 times a week and every BP machine I've ever used always shows a normal blood pressure, except one of his. So he does a stress test on me and with all my anxiety, the BP was high. By the time I was done, my BP had come down to more normal levels. But all he did was write out a prescription for BP meds. When I questioned him he got all frustrated and told me that 'I had to get it through my head' and that I was in denial. He sentenced me to a lifetime of drugs just like that. No further discussion. Time for a second opinion.

I have not seen Dr. R. but certainly can address his lack of professionalism & perhaps competency, after seeing my husband on 2 occasions. My husband is a university professor & I am a health professional at Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS). I work with some highly reputable specialists at HHS, who aim to maintain the highest standards of clinical care. Health education & patient care go hand in hand. Dr. R. did oversee lengthy testing in his office, and after some concerning and unexpected findings, quickly gave my husband a prescription & F/U app't. Despite my husband's complex clinical history, and concurrent non-cardiac investigations, Dr. R. refused to consider alternative hypotheses. Upon learning that my husband did not take the medication (obvious concern after researching it and remembering his HHS neurologist balking at it a year ago), Dr. R. became irritable and short. After my husband posed #'s about the meds, Dr. R. stood up stating "this is a waste of time" & walked out.

Staff was very nice and on-time. Dr. Raimondo needs to learn some compassion, empathy and bedside manners. After my stress test and echo, he looked at my echo results for maybe 2 minutes and proceeded to tell me that it looks as if I had had a heart attack .. gave me a prescription and told me I needed a consultation with him but that he was very busy and he didn't know when I would get in to see him. Thank you goodbye. His receptionist called me two days later for a consultation on August 9 !! just under 2 months away. I was not given any other explanation whatsoever .. no brochures, what to do or not to do, absolutely nothing. So to sum it up ... you've had a heart attack, here is some medication, I am too busy, goodbye. Even though the diagnosis may be right (still waiting for the results)I would not go back to him. My cousin's son saw him too and did not like him either .. found him arrogant and cocky.

Dr. Raimondo has a poor bedside manner. He can be quite rude and abrupt. The only thing 'warm' in his new office is the choice of paint on the wall. He has however hired incredibly supportive, knowledgeable staff.

Phenomenal Doctor! His ability to listen was remarkable. I must truly say I was impressed with his knowledge, skill and ability to deal with concerns. I felt cared for, and my health concerns were validated. I would highly recommend Dr. Raimondo. Furthermore, his office was impressive. I took note that he is current and utilizes MAC operating systems. Great experience...I feel my heart health is in good hands!!!!

He treated my mother in law and never picked up on her heart condition, rather said it was all in her head. She flew to Vegas and immediately upon her return became ill and had to be hospitalized. The end result is she died of a heart attact three days later. Would never use this doctor even if my life depended on it.
