I've had Dr. Gartman since I retired 10 years ago. Had I not followed his advice it's likely death would have knocked at my door. I was a heart attack waiting to happen with other health problems from family history. Every diagnosis was right, every advice he gave worked. I learned to follow his advice--he will not try to force anyone to do what they refuse to do--yet will mention it at each visit. Dr. Gartman's bedside manner is above reproach. Specialists he referred me to were excellent; one even commented how thourough Dr. Gartman is with his patients. With a quality doctor like him I don't have to bounce around searching for a PCP I want to stay with. I'd rate him a 10 out of 5, but since that's not possible, a high 5 will have to do.

While knowledgeable as an endocrinologist, I've found that as a PCP he's a little frustrating (at least from my experiences). I'm a type 1 diabetic, and for the past several years, every time I've gone in he's told me I should be on an insulin pump, despite telling him EVERY SINGLE VISIT that I don't want that. I feel like he's just ignoring any past visits and recommending what the industry says type 1 diabetics should have. While his bedside manner is nice, I feel like it's just a nice front. He's also not very knowledgeable about actual research in diabetes, unable to answer any questions I've had about potential cure research I've read about. He seems super knowledgeable about any endocrinology topics, but as a Primary care doctor, I can't give him a ringing endorsement.

Currently seeing Dr. Gartman for endocrinology. Extremely sensitive and helpful in explanations for treatment and even called me at homes a couple of times with critical blood test results!
