I visited Dr. Caners a few years ago for a routine cleaning. She spent a great deal of our visit trying to talk me into expensive procedures to hide an insignificant little chip on a tooth that no one could see. I declined and never went back. My impression was she was only interested in up-selling, rather than actually paying attention to my overall tooth care.

Found staff pushy. Past few appointments have been late - waiting over 40 minutes with no apology. Feel like Dr. Caners is selling. Second opinion saught. My oldest daughter no longer feels comfortable with her. Have since changed dentists.

I had a routine root canal done on an abutment tooth of a four tooth bridge. I had been going to Dr. Caners for about 6 years or so. I had no problems with her. But, all I had done were checkups and cleanings. She did the root canal on my tooth and temporarily closed it. I was suppose to come back for another appt. I didn't make it. I thought it was all finished, she never said otherwise. I did come in for subsequent appts. for the next couple years etc. Then we discovered my abutment tooth that she didn't close properly had rotted and had to be pulled. This resulted in me having a whole new set of problems. She never took blame for it, and it was my fault for not coming in. Well, she checked my teeth every time I came in there afterwards for checkups and never said a thing. Had I known it was only temp. closed I would have come in. Her staff also are unfriendly. Also, saw Dr. Caners at events on a few occasions, and she would just ignore me, before this incident occurred.

Very arrogant. Waited over an hour to get my daughter in, they had forgot her. Snapped at me when I questioned her. Never went back.

My husband I are patients for 3 yrs. Usually super fantastic but yesterday was my 1st experience with the "upsell". You can always say no, without a problem. However, I am a little annoyed that a routine cleaning now takes two visits as it is a long way for us to drive. The office staff is wonderful and Dr. Caner's partner dentist, Sakura, is the best dentist I have ever had.

I chipped a tooth and instead of fixing it right away she put a temporary filling over it and kept making appointments for other things i.e cleanings and replacing all my fillings and whatever else she could get her hands on (because I was insured, she "milked it")...it took over 6 months and me getting angry at her to finally get the chipped tooth fixed and by the time she got to it, the tooth was rotten underneath the temporary filling she had slapped on...ultimately it created a much larger problem and the entire tooth was lost! I had to get it drilled out and completely rebuilt which was not covered under my dental plan...her greed created a bigger problem and then I was left with the bill! It is one thing to "upsell" or "market" other services a bit, but when you go too far (to the point of neglecting other issues) it is just disgusting! I feel violated!

Seems to be more interested in cosmetic work that maintenance on teeth. Otherwise she is professional.

Our family went to Dr. Caners many years ago. One of the worst dentists I have ever been too. No respect for the one time we had to cancel an appointment on short notice, beyond our control. She tried to charge us for the missed appt. We have never been bak to her

Biography

Dr. Alice Caners was raised on her parents’ family farm in rural Manitoba as the twelfth of sixteen children! She graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Manitoba where she received an award in Periodontics. Since graduation in 1982, she has enjoyed building her practice and providing dental care to her many patients in Port Coquitlam. Dr. Caners is an avid believer in continuing education and participates in numerous study groups and conferences to expand her knowledge in the various aspects of dentistry. Her personal reward is seeing the benefits of providing the best possible care to her patients.
