I have never had a problem with Dr. Akena. He is always willing to spend the time with me and to get to the root of the problem. He has always shown that he cares. He has also been excellent with my children.

saw him regarding chest pains,refered me to specialist,did not call me when results were in,had to request an appointment to see him,results were negative and told me that he didnt know wat it was and to live with it...seeking another opinion with new doctor....

Horrible with children. I had numerous visits when my daughter was sick and he kept insisting it was a virus. A fever for 7 days is not a virus. I took her to emerg and she was given antibiotics for an infection. She was fine within 2 days. On the other hand, is always very good and helpful with me, and if he can't conclude a problem with routine tests, he refers to a specialist, which is more than most doctors would do.

Unbelievable poor bedside manner. Told my daughter that he didn't believe her symptoms, even with me there to confirm them. Had to demand that he refer her to a specialist. I'm very angry and intend to write a letter to the College of Physicians and Surgeons. This is the second doctor at the lakewood clinic that has been very poor. The first one they got rid of. Hopefully they'll get rid of this one.
