In the early 90's, I was referred to Dr. Starr for the removal of a large cyst on my back. He was there on time, offered his opinion on how my recovery would go and when he opened the site, a vile odor presented. I asked him if that smell would follow me out of the surgery suite. He said, "No. it's all over me, now". We had a good laugh and the incision healed beautifully. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

Dr. Joseph Starr is a horrible plastic surgeon. I wish that I had never chosen to have Joseph Starr perform rhinoplasty on me.

When I was a teenager I had the surgery put back my ears, since it was covered by OHIP. After the first surgery with Dr. Starr, I was in such incredible pain I had to be on intense pain killers. When the bandages were removed I discovered one of my ears had been folded forward under the bandages, and therefore my ears looked completely different. That is what caused all the pain. The one that hadn't been damaged looked like an elf ear. So I had him redo the job (I was 13, and clueless, as was my mother who was trying to do the best for me). The results were still terrible. Almost 15 years later, my ears are still uncomfortable to sleep on and to wear winter hats over. They look terrible. The scars are obvious and still tender. I wish I could give him a negative number of stars. I have heard since then of someone else having her ears butchered by him. So sad. Please avoid him at all costs!

A number of years ago Dr. Joseph Starr performed on operation on me in order to reduce the size of my nose, but the end result was disastrous. Dr. Starr actually removed a section of cartilage from the centre of my nose, and I have no idea why he would do such a thing. The result of Dr. Starr removing a section of cartilage from the centre of my nose is a permanent indentation in my nose. I have had two subsequent rhinoplasty operations since Dr. Starr operated on me, but the indentation in my nose created by this incompetent doctor still remains. Thus, I would strongly advise anyone contemplating having Dr. Joseph Starr perform rhinoplasty on them to seriously reconsider. In fact, someone else who used Dr. Starr as their surgeon for rhinoplasty mentioned on this particular website that he carried out the exact same procedure of removing a section of cartilage from the centre of their nose. Thus, unnecessarily removing a section of cartilage from a patient's nose during a rhinoplasty procedure seems to be a recurring theme in Dr. Starr's approach to surgery. A competent plastic surgeon would never arbitrarily remove a section of cartilage from the centre of a patient's nose, ultimately leaving a permanent indentation in their nose. This act of incompetence on behalf of Dr. Joseph Starr should suffice in convincing anyone not to use his services for rhinoplasty.

I saw Dr. Starr on the recommendation of my dermatologist to get a mole removed from my shoulder. If I had done the procedure with the dermatologist I would have ended up with a round scar so I opted for the plastic surgeon in which I would (supposedly) end up with a small line for a scar. Since it was on my shoulder I couldn't see the messy cut and stitch job he had done. When I went to the walk-in clinic to the have the stitches removed the doctor asked, "Who did this to you?" I said "Dr. Starr." He said, "No..I mean 'who' did this to you?" Turns out he was under the impression I was STABBED in the shoulder based on how messy the scar was. He said it looked like ripped tissue that was sewn together and the stitches were sloppy. Fortunately it's on my shoulder so I don't have to look at it. Lastly, FYI ladies.. After the consultation he opened the door before I was fully dressed (where I was sitting was visible to the people in the waiting room).

He did 3 surgeries on me back in 2007. Two under my arms to remove sweat glands that were overactive and breast reduction. I really didn't mind him at all since I love punctual doctors and I hate to talk LOL..so for me he was great. Yeah I have scars, but I guess I'm one of those rare girls that doesn't care that much about scars on her boobs.

I had breast augmentation over a year ago. Dr Starr & I had agreed on small implants (size 34) so I would not have to wear a bra. Four days after surgery, as the bandages were removed, I was horrified to see the asymmetry and a breast size 38. One breast litterally sitting on the chest bone about 2 cm higher than the other - absolutely grotesque! The incissions under the breasts are messey & corrugated. I had extreme pain from excessive stretching of the skin and brusing from the neck to the legs. I wanted to remove the implants but he absolutely refused claiming that everything would be just fine. I finally had them removed 6 months later and have since required physiotherapy to regain function of one arm where the muscles had been severed. As of today, I still have total numbness & irritable pain on both breasts plus pulling due to the excessive scar tissue. Attitude is cold & uncaring. BAD NEWS - STAY AWAY for your own good.

A few years ago, I went to emergency with a broken finger and was referred to this doctor. He didn't look at the x-ray and after 6 weeks took the cast off. My finger is permanently bent as the bone was not set right. I also have pain in the joint just below where the break was. I found this doctor not very friendly and was not helpful after.

I had the experience of meeting Dr Starr to have breast reduction done in 2004. It was the worst experience of my life!! Not only did he forget to put drains in but the scarring is disgusting. After 6 months of bed rest and home nurses coming in because of infections after infections(because lack of drains) he also cut through my left nipple and had to repair and took me down 2 sizes to many,he is the WORST doctor in the world and can not believe he still has his license. if I was able to sue believe me I would have.He is AWFUL and I am the one who lives with the scarring of an incompetent doctor!!!!
