I am proud to rate Dr. Kantarjian as a 5 star Oncologist/Hematologist! In March of 1994, I was diagnosed with CML and given 6 months to live, just 6 months before our daughter's wedding! My husband took a year's leave of absence from his job and we traveled to the top 5 cancer hospitals in the United States and ended up at MDACC as my choice and Dr. Kantarjian as my doctor. He put me on a number of trials even spent 4 months in Houston while being on one trial drug that I had to be taken off of because it was going to kill me. It wasn't until Nov. 1999, after I had tried and failed all of the trials for CML that Dr. Kantarjian told me that he was waiting to put me on a trial drug that would be available in Dec. 1999. I was 1 of 75 people who had failed all other trials for CML that was put on this new study drug STI-571, later to be called Gleevec when it had FDA approval. This coming Aug. 2015, it will be 15 years that I have been in molecular remission. I thank God, Dr. Kantarjian, my family for their great support and care, and the staff at MDACC for being alive today. I saw our daughter married and we have a 15 year old granddaughter, who is a two time Junior Olympian as a down-hill skier<3 Good Lord willing, on July 31, 2015, my husband and I will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. I tell everyone about MDACC and Dr. Kantarjian, who puts his patients first! If you are diagnosed with cancer, you need to head to MDACC. Two of our friends with different types cancer went to MDACC and are both in remission. My best friend, like a sister, has been in Houston for one year, with stage 4 cancer. Her insurance company would not let her go to MDACC when she was first dianosed; it has been a battle but she has faith in God, a wonderful family for support, and top doctors at MDACC that have her on trial studies! I will go for my annual check-up in early May with Dr. Kantarjian and I will visit my dear friend. Please pray for my friend "J" and the staff at MDACC! If you , a member of your family, or a friend is diagnosed with cancer go to MDACC immediately to get the best care in the world!!!!!

Dr Kantarjian is the best. The billing system at MD Anderson leaves much to be desired.
