I'm writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with your treatment. I've frankly never been treated in such an offhand, perfunctory manner--you seemed defensive, wanting no questions, offering no explanations or support.
When I was surprised that I had a cataract in my left eye that wasn't there a month ago, you glibly said: welcome to old age. I've seen ophthalmologists since age 7 and never been told I had an astigmatism--again, no response.
When I asked about getting the endothelial test that had been strongly recommended by my doctor here, you replied: well, we've got to get that cataract out one way or the other.
I kept trying to impress on you that my main concern was visual acuity (ridiculous to have to even verbalize that) since I'm a painter, and that I was concerned about which eye would be better suited for distance, given the prospect of another cataract. You told me to think about my vision 5-10 years ago, and which one I would have wanted to be near/distant back then. I kept prompting you to set up an appt. or address the left eye's measurement after the operation. I still don't even know the power of the new IOL.
When I came in the last day in extreme pain, you offered no relief--I had to ask twice for some aspirin; yet you knew that I was flying back to Mexico, a 12 hr. trip, and that the air conditioning would only make the pain worse. When you examined my eye, you said nothing, other than mumbling, it's an eyelash....strange they usually come from the bottom, not the top. I assume you were speaking to yourself.
Ended up flying with a corneal abrasion....the whole experience was a nightmare. Might you have noticed this and dealt with it?
