Dennis Furlong is a great doctor. I know he has a bus practice but he is in a small area and he does what he can. I do hear the quote that he has his hand on the door but I have never really experienced that. He has always been available and in fact went above and beyond to help me and other family members when necessary. Yes, he is into sports and I am not but he is usually correct in his assessment. I have a chronic illness and while he may not understand all the nuances of it, does know what it is and more importantly for me, trusts my own judgment in ascertaining how it might be treating while providing his own ideas as well. Not afraid to refer you to any doctor you suggest though will recommend others - meaning he will not unethically talk about his colleagues - who may not be the best. He was a Minister of Health and is well regarded across the Maritimes and even in Canada.

Dr. Furlong is a good Doctor. He has been my doctor since birth. I am now 28 yrs old. I admit he does have a "shake it off" attitude, but can show empathy when you're really feeling low. I feel that he does not like to prescribe medication if it is not absolutely necessary and I think that can be a good thing. Generally speaking, he is quite knowledgeable. He is a family doctor and has general knowledge. He may lack in certain specific areas but will recommend to specialists if needed. His medical interventions are generally good in my opinion.

I totally agree with the last rating. This guy is a sports med doctor. He's the kind of guy that'll tell you just shake it off when a few yrs down the road you end up with bursitis or calcification. Furthermore, he thinks slight emotions are breakdowns! I would not recommend this guy. Thinks he knows everything but infact he's hurting his patients by 'gestimating'their problems.

I have to disagree. Doc furlong has made several mistakes in precriptions. He has given prescriptions at the highest possible dose for years longer than the recomended 6 weeks.. get the picture. Wich in turn caused major grand mal seizures which my father now has for the rest of his life. He is known for "take a tylenol and call me in the morning" quote. He sent my cousin home once with a fractured arm and told him to sleep on it and they would transfer him to Moncton in the morning. Obviousely they drove that night themselves to Moncton. I was prescribed one of the highest forms of contraception pills which ruined my hormone leves for many years. And the side effects of high male hormones caused me a lot of problems one being facial hair at 22 years old. I had no choice to stay with him for a long time he owns half if not more of the patients in Dalhousie. And have fun trying to find another Doc. I'm sure if you have prescriptions from him a little research goes a long way. Take care

Best doctor i know ! He's been taken care of my whole family for a long time and we love him. He's very respectful, understanding, and knowledgeable.Would recommend him in a heart beat.

I have had Dr.Furlong since I was born. Doesn't and I'm now approaching 40...what does that tell you? Very good Doc!!
