Dr. Furlong was my Maman's attending physician for years. She was having problems with her kidneys for years before it was diagnosed. She saw Dr. Dastous in Moncton in 1985 and he told her he wanted to see her in One Years. The following year my mother mentioned that fact to Dr. Furlong and he told her her kidneys were fine. She was hospitalized at least once, and they administered a prescription drug (Bactrum) that she was allergic to and had told the nursing staff this. They paid no attention to her and gave it to her anyway By 1989 she had complete renal failure. She was on self-administered dialysis at home in 1990 but was continualy having infections. She passed away in Nov. 1991. To this day, none of us have much to say about Dr. Furlong.

Dr. Furlong Delivered my youngest son Curtis,,Then after us moving to Timmins for 18 years ,and then moving back to Dalhousie ,he then treated Myself and my husband ( Jeannette and Michael), he then treated us for 4 more years before we moved back to Ontario....The Best Doctor I ever had....

Dr. Furlong has been my doctor for years....he has treated my grandmother, mother, and aunts...so he knows my family history. He is easy to talk to and ask questions. His secretary Julie is amazing and does the best she can to fit you in on short notice. He is a kind man who is very knowledgeable. He is now my sons doctor, so he has seen a few generations of my family....love the fact that he will spend time and ask as many questions as needed....he follows up on patients. Love him.

I had Dr. Furlong from birth until I moved away to college. I was forced to tell him that I had been sexually abused and then nothing ever came of my disclosure, so much for mandatory reporting by health professionals. As a teen I did not realize that he had to report, as an adult I am very disapointed with his inaction.

Dr. Furlong was my doctor from birth to age 21. Since college, I've been with another physician. The reality is Dr. Furlong overlooks vital information that can cause huge problems with patients. Dr. Furlong delayed a routine medical exam (PAP) with me for years; even though I asked why it was being delayed he said I had "plenty of time". He knew I had family history of reproductive cancer. I found out after my second PAP that I had cervical cancer. This type of cancer can take years to form. It may have been there earlier. I may have been spared the type of treatment had I caught it earlier. Dr. Furlong is a great person, and a great "sports doctor", but he needs to stop making assumptions and look at each patient as an individual.
