Amazing. I have become hesitant about the competency of the health professions, but Dr. Schlech redefines the good in the medical profession. We came to him regarding my partners HIV complications and he was nothing but hopeful, knowledgeable, and non-judgmental. Nobody likes to go to the hospital, but having an MD like Dr. Schlech look at you helps with the process.

First met his doctor in an emergency situation. He actually diagnosed my husbands problem over the phone to our family doctor.Extremely urgent (too bad ER did not listen). He worked in conjunction with our surgeon. During my husbands stay in hospital (11 days) Dr Schlech never missed a day to check up and update us on the status. Very caring and knowledgeable. Surprised he is not rated a straight 5.

Met Dr Schleck in Emergency. Found him rude, uncaring, disinterested and more concerned about clearing out the back log of emergency room patients than about the individual patient in front of him. By the point I met Dr Schleck my daughter had been seen by 8 doctors including GPs, duty Drs, emergency room doctors, and dermatologists. She clearly had cellulitis and strep - bloodwork and cultures. She had developed a heart murmur and a rattle in her lungs, had a low grade fever for more than a week and progressively worsening cellulitis in her leg that had not responded to four different trials of three different classes of antibiotics. Dr Shleck insisted on discharging her without any antibiotics. Fortunately another ER DR did prescribe the antibiotic that had shown effectiveness in the previous 12 hours. He may have been having a bad day - afterall he is only human, but he was having a bad day at the expense of vulnerable people who needed his help.

Very helpful, caring and gentle. Pity the MD's cannot listen to what he said or contact him for me for copies of his records.

Dr Schlech is a good doctor. He was very nice to my son and I. His staff was great as well, his secretary up front made us feel at home. QE2 ID seems to be a great overall operation. Our case was probably one of the less complicated ones they see there, but we were treated like we were important. Thanks.

Its wonderful that this doctor is kind to his patients with HIV. I do happen to live with a life-threatening, ultimately terminal illness, not caused by HIV, and have found him to be rude to myself, to family, and to a hospital roommate. Just because someone is expert in one area of his/her specialty does not make them expert on everything. Other illnesses can be just as severe as HIV. By the way, cat bite infections can be very serious, even fatal when left untreated.

Saw Dr. Schlech earlier this year. He was getting ready to head to Africa but never made me feel like he was rushing my diagnosis. He even contacted me from Africa to ensure the treatment had been succesful! Long story short, Dr. Schlech cured me, and cared enough to follow up. 2 Thumbs up!

How a doctor with a 30+ year career, with 1000's of satisfied patients, can be defined by the negative reviews of 4 people is beyond me. This doctor spends 6+ months of the year treating impoverished AIDS patients in Uganda and we have people here complaining about a missed lyme disease diagnosis. Incredible.

Stongly disagree with previous posts. Dr. Schleck is one of the most knowledgeable physicians I've encountered and is solely responsible for my mother's survival following recurrent osteomyelitis. His compassion extends to needy persons in the wider community and overseas.
