I have always felt comfortable with Dr. Mahoney and he has always explain everything to me as I tend to be a bit nervous. He really seems to care. I really like him and am told he is quite knowledgeable. Don't let other people's bad experience persuade you from trusting in an excellent doctor.

I find he talks too fast and if you try to find out what a word is in mid sentence he cuts you off like you are interfering with his train of thought. My Dr. has called a least three times to only get a recording by his receptionist who says she will return his call but never does. I told him to find some one else or i will take my chances if he can't! I know he is busy, is good at what he does, but as soon as i step through his door i feel like i am on a stop watch.

I saw Dr.Mahony recently. I did not think I would leave this appointment as happy as I did. I came to him with a very sensitive and personal issue and he was: extremely thorough, very helpful in addressing all of my concerns, and he has great beside manner - he made me feel very comfortable. I left my appointment not feeling like I had been rushed - he spent nearly an hour with me. I couldn't have asked for a better experience :)

Dr. Mahoney is amazing. He is a great doctor that took the time to carefully explain my condition and all of the tests I have taken, the results, and what they mean for me. He is super nice and very knowledgeable. He takes his time to explain everything in depth and answered any questions I had. He is one of the best doctors I have gone to.

Although Dr. Mahoney is not punctual, I feel that seeing him is worth the wait. He's very kind in his comments and explains everything to me. I hope he never retires.

I believe Dr Mahony is a very knowledgable doctor but he has no time to listen. My experience was that he made his own conclusions and had no time for input from me. My last two appointments with him were traumatizing and caused me to come to the conclusion that I would rather forego my health than ever have to see him again in my life. In my opinion his brilliance unfortunately is severely dimmed by his arrogant attitude.

Dr Mahoney was almost 2 hours late. Initially he seemed very thorough and polite. I asked him a question and suddenly and surprisingly he said, " Listen honey, I've got a waiting room full of people here ." . Ten percent of thyroid patients need Cytomel in addition to Synthroid or Eltoxin ( as I now know from my new endocrinologist at VGH ) , but Dr. Mahoney is not up to date and actually got angy with me when I asked about Cytomel. He is an old fashioned, dogmatic endrocrinologist .. and there are a lot of them out there. His personality disorder comes in second to this as a gigantic problem.

Dr. Mahony believes that there is only one way to treat whatever disese you might have - his way. When I wanted to be seen by another endocrinologist for a second opinion he became very upset and could not hide his disappointment. He was loud, angry and reduced me to tears. Out of the dozen or so times I saw him he was never on time. Not once. One time he was late over two hours. If you are looking for an open-mided doctor who will treat you well, doctor Mahony is not it.

Dr. Mahoney is an excellent doctor. He might seem harsh but he is very passionate about what he does. He has helped me better control and understand my diabetes. He also answers all my questions and also takes into consideration all my other health problems. He has helped me come up with a game plan for effectively controlling my diabetes in accordance to my live style. He's is prompt in keeping all my other physicians up to speed. I have seen other endocrinologist and he is by far the best one out there. I never felt like he wasn't on my side. One thing about Dr. Mahoney is that he will give it to you straight, sometimes with a self care disease like diabetes you need to be reminded of the complications and the severity of this disease if left uncontrolled. He has helped me immensely for which I am grateful.

I have been seeing Dr. Mahoney for about 7 years since being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. He has the reputation of being the best of the best and I would agree with that. You often have to wait to get in to see him but when you do, he gives you all the time you need. He is well worth the wait. I think he is amazing.
