Excellent physician who truly cares about your health! I have been a patient for over 10 years while he has kept me healthy and aware of what's good for me. In the past year, he has mellowed quite a bit, but I still liked his practice because it is about doing the right thing. Some who disparage his manner, may have expected the type of service that the large health services company based in Oakland gives. I tried that and found that I had to struggle to get anything done for me. Dr. Kassels is exactly the opposite. You will get effective and immediate treatment and follow-up. Thank you, Dr. Kassels!

My family had seen Dr. Kassels and found him to be rude, condescending, and generally a poor doctor (he is focused on money and not patient). We all opted to see Melina who we were very happy with as she is caring, listens, and discusses options (treats the patient as if he/she matters and has a brain). Recently my husband had an appointment scheduled with Melina and, after an hour of waiting, was told that she was out and he needed to see Dr Kassels. He opted to reschedule and see Melina instead. Two weeks later we received a letter from Dr Kassels firing our family from seeking health care at his office. No wonder his staff are getting out of there as quickly as possible! Only regret is having to say good bye to Melina. If you have an option of providers then run away from Dr Kassels and count yourself lucky that you are able to!

Greddy and Incompetent Dr. and wife business.
Dr. Kassels office manager illegally and fraudulently sold my account to a collection agency - Which in turn has reported this to the credit agencies. The account was paid ''IN FULL'' late August or Sept or 2012 ( I happen to remember this clearly since I was at the airport to see my ailing father and spoke to the office manager to clear and address this bill). After spending nearly an hour with the office manager over my account- which was incorrect, we finally agreed on a figure of approximately $53 dlls and was paid in full using a credit card that has since been cancelled. The office which is/ was ran by the Drs. wife NEVER provided me a copy of this payment. This was also not the first time the office had tried to double charge me for billing. I received an itemized bill from the collection agency, with inaccurate and incorrect information, obviously had it been correct to begin with , it would never had gone to a collection agency. The Drs office had not business selling this to the agency since it had been paid in full. I also have two separate bills from the Drs. office for the same services that the billing agency alleges that I owe (I can provide these as proof), and two different amounts - these are supposedly the final bill(s).
I called the agency and explained the situation, I offered to pay just to get this off my credit reports but they were incredibly rude and would not work with me. I will be providing the "final bill" the drs office sent me- even these have two different dll amounts- shows proof of poor and incompetent billing by the drs. office. Reviews from YELP regarding this office with similar issues- search for Dr. Kassels in concord, ca and you will find this: " charged her 48.00 and the fee was posted at 40.00. went for the appt and paid copay and they said we dont have time to sign right now but will do it by friday, never happened that is fraud charging for services not rendered. he is now being investigated by health plan of california, john muir, and the medical board will keep yoiu posted" and this one: I called the office knowing that there must be some kind of a mistake because I already paid my $150 for my 30 minute appointment with the RN. I called Dr. Kassels office and was told by the receptionist that my appointment was actually $225.00 "because the first one costs a little more" and I was charged $85.00 for the breathing test that they gave me (which consisted of me blowing in a cardboard tube). So the whole trip to the RN has now cost me $310.00.

This is a wonderful practice and I would personaly recommend it to anyone looking for a knowledgable careing practice with a highly skilled approachable physician. My health was very concerning and given that I had heart disease (that I was never aware of)Dr. Kassels found this out way before a catastrophic event. I wont ignore my health again. I truely have seen the LIGHT. If it was not for the quick response by the staff and physician my young childen would be without their dad.

Money hungry, rude, evil, nasty Dr. office has termites, mold and mildew and he makes us paint over it so the patients cant see. Try calling him anytime after you've received care and expect to get a call back- you will never get it. i worked for him for 5 months too long and I quit becayse I couldn't stand to see the way he treated patients. He charges you to get copies of reports and to sign any medically related forms that you may need. Try not seeing him in the last month and then calling for refill on your medications whether it's something simple like sinus infection or medication for diabetes or cholesterol. He will not process anything for you. They never asked for my social security number as an employee and anyone could find your insurance card and go into his office and be seen with your insurance. He says as long as the ins. pays that's all that matter. He will not ever ask u as a patients either for your id when u r a new patient.
